The original poster had an issue with hardware in extreme cold. Sadly, the technology is still not there. For many smokers, e cigs are still too much of a PITA. Having to buy special apparel too?

Where I want to see the tech go is ease of use and dependability. Add juice and go. Leaks, coil wrapping, heat and cols blah blah make these things a pain compared to analogs.

Op stated having to Walk off Campus - tells me indoor job. Even working Outside in extremes one would likely be Dressed for conditions. Inside pockets are fairly standard and Body heat cannot change far from the 98.6 normal. Pretty much a given the e-liquid would have a source of warmth to aid in keeping fluidity.
Now, leave the tank in the console of the car/truck and all bets are off.
Summer heat can empty a tank in a few hours or less. don't ask:facepalm:

Vaping does require more thought and planning. Definitely worth the effort for me ;)
Yes it's worth it. I really enjoy vaping and all the study/questions that go along with it makes it like a fun hobby for me. I just put a twisted coil build on an RDA on top of a parallel mech box and am enjoying some Drip Boy's Bundt Head. It's a lemon pound cake flavor and it's quite good. I am a happy vaper this evening.:vapor:

Well if I make my living working outside in below freezing deg weather yes I'm going to spend the money to keep my body warm, I just added the 10.00 hand warmers for my tank to be cozy in my jacket pocket, my Nautilus Mini served me very well in backcountry skiing / heli skiing all last season.
