Yup, i always put atleast 5-8 drops in the middle, and one on each hole, then put it together, and let it sit for at least 10 mins. Ive been doing everything "right" as far as im aware, if its the obvious stuff then ive done it. Unless theres something technical im missing.
I don't know where your problems are, just kind of shooting in the dark hoping to hit something. I don't know if there are counterfeit coils for the starr like there are with Aspire stuff, or how their quality control is, hopefully someone that knows the product can chime in about that. I almost think the mod could have started having issues and started the issues with the coils.

The only other thing that comes to mind is the contact in the base of the atty that contacts the coil. Is it clean and making good contact? A friend ended up with a small hair on the contact, arcing occured and his mod messed up. Trying to diagnose it on my back-up mod, an istick 50, the ohm's jumped around and it would shut off. I pulled it apart, found and removed the hair and it worked fine. He still had to buy a new mod though.

Ya thats what i was thinking, last night i cleaned out just the base, i had bought two coils and both had burnt tasting hits, even after cleaning the base. I went ahead and took apart the entire atty and rinsed it all out and let it sit overnight. I went back to the place i got the coils to buy another one(i went to a different place then the one i mentioned in the op) and they went ahead and just gave it to me :)! I primed it up, let it sit while i grabed a bite to eat and went home and just gave a few short 1 sec puffs. Let it sit, repeat. Then let it sit again, just now went and took a couple big hits off it and no burnt hits. It still is off a little on the voltage side, the first whole month of use, with it turned all the way down, it would ALWAYS fire at 3.43v. Everytime. Its firing at 3.40v now, sometimes it will fire at 3.33-3.38. Not a big deal tho, atleast its not burnt now. I think i need to just rma the mod

The more I think about the mod, the more I wonder about it. It's not one I've heard a lot about. I would pull it apart and look for any internal issues. Maybe the dial coming loose and moving allows an occasional short or maxes out the power randomly? But I don't know how comfortable you are tearing into an electronic devise...

I really like my LE80s. I have two of them and use them for my RDAs. I have used one for a Herakles every now and then, but mainly for RDAs. If you are in the OKC area, check out The Vapor Hut. I have gone to the one in Midwest City for over two years and they bend over backwards to help out the customer.

I would totally be for that, if the mod didnt have a 6 month manufacturers warranty, i wouldnt want to risk voiding it. Yet...

I can't blame you there. Send it back and let them fix her up. Big changes overnight on electronic hard parts usually isn't a good thing. And that lets you pick out a nice back-up mod. Lots of neat stuff on the market nowadays.

I'm so sorry to read of your frustrations. Maybe what you need is more free time to explore vaping solutions that really work for you. I think perhaps part of what's frustrating you is insistence on a vaping solution you got from others, i.e. cotton and pure VG. Obviously you have had hardware issues as well. My own vaping journey was pursued in a different way, and ended up with me making my own juice and choosing my own vaping hardware, which turned out to be mechs and genesis RBA's. That hardware might not work for you at all, depending on your circumstances and preferences, but I'd like to heartily encourage you to look into DIY, making your own juice as you look for a better vaping hardware solution.

I say this because you have definite preference for high VG juice and you could get what you want and save a lot of money and frustration if you learn to make your own juice. I can't begin to tell you how rewarding it's been for me.

When I started vaping I had a lot of free time to work things out, and because I did I ended up very happy with what I arrived at. I think it's important to take your time with it. A Kayfun might be just the ticket for you, or you may want to go the dripper route, but it's important to shove the world away for a while and give yourself time to work it out for yourself. Please be aware that it's a huge advantage to make your own juice for the build you will be vaping it in. What you order online or get at a B&M can't really compare.

Thanks for the wise words, i believe you are correct. I need to stop searching for someone ells opinion and work towards finding my own. Funny you should mention diy, because i just started, about the same time i got this mod. As far as the diy thing goes, i havent had an issue yet. Made a couple juices i like first try. I think i adapted to that immediately. Weird huh.

I even tried no flavor at all, just 70/30 vg/pg and 6mg nic and think its just fine. A little sweet, a tad bit bitter at times but i have no problem with it. I do miss some good flavor though, so ill just vape my flavors every now and then. Good stuff indeed.

Wait a minute. YOur mod has a 6 month warranty?

Then by all means, TAKE BACK TO VENDOR. YOu do realize that they are given that warranty so they can pass on to customers?

I had a well known vendor try to do that crap to me with some genuine joyetech ego twists about a year ago. I know what the joyetech warranty is, and I know how it is granted to the vendor. I got replacements, but I was going to pursue it no matter waht, whether I had to go to JOyetech, report the vendor, whatever.

As I said, there's been about 3-4 people who have tried to rip me off since i started vaping, but they didn't know how tenacious I am. ;) I simply DO NOT have extra money to burn and when I send $50 to somebody, that is real money to me, as I have worked hard for it.

Find out from manufacturer if they will honor the warranty, or what measures you need to go thru with your vape store vendor.

P.S. and i shouldn't have to be tenacious just to make a simple transaction. I just want a fair deal, and to be treated honestly and respectfully. If you can't do that as a business, then you deserve whatever is coming your way  MOST smart business people want repeat customers. Every customer they burn is one they won't have a year from now...

So.... Enlighten me on what i dont understand. I am all for constrictive criticism.
Well, I look at your choices. Not necessarily bad, but more for someone that has been vaping a while and has a handle on things.
Starre Tank, might be a Great Tank or simply one more knock-off of a Mainstream tank with a proven track record. Where do you search for help and support for a limited product?
As for the LE80, seems we have a few fans here, but the box does not impress me in the least. There are far better design boxes on the Market and pricing is dropping on power per dollar every day.

There is a wealth of information on ECF and tons of people that are willing to assist when the questions are asked.

I would personally recommend you deciding just what type of vape you MUST have to set a base line and let us figure out what DEPENDABLE equipment would fit the bill.
Budgetary concerns can often be met.

The Star and maybe the LE80 should be relegated to Backups.

You seem stuck on Vaping .25ohm. Do you have a strictly Low sub-ohm preference. Do you prefer heavy vapor balanced with flavor?

One of my mods is a simple IPV mini2. Hits 70 watts without any problem, but 18650's will drain quickly. This mod produces great power for my tanks at 30-35 watts for several hours on a single cell.
The Orchid RTA's I use can be easily built for various purposes and with the Mods .2 capabilities I get very satisfying vapes from all 4 Orchids in various configs.

Incase on one pointed this out. You are attempting to run .25ohm factory built Coil heads with a likely top performance of 30-35w on a Mod that can crank out 180w and is running 8.4v peak verses typical 4.2v Parallel Boxes. It is likely real easy to overpower a coil head and ruin it in an instant.

Wha???

YOu should re-read that. :)

The OP already decided what they wanted. Unfortunately, he got a defective unit.

You are telling the OP that HIS CHOICES should be relagated to backups??? and/or that the other people on this forum ("let us figure out what would fit the bill") should make a decison for him?

I thought this kind of presumption went away with the "get a provari" fanboi threads we used to see here.

The OP has made it clear that his particular mod DOES NOT WORK RIGHT. I don't think your choosing a new setup for him is gonna fix that. And there is no point in keeping a DEFECTIVE mod as a backup.

Also, I"m sure you noticed the other people who said they really liked their LE80, right? The reviews on most sites support that, too. I'm sure when they work they are fine.

I don't get the buy buy buy buy thing. Why not help users here work with what they have, unless they say they WANT to change their gear? He already spent a lot of $$$!

He already told me i had to goto their facebook page and theyd help me get it replaced. Which, is pretty unprofessional.

Also let them know that the vendor is not supporting the customer in the warranty.

Vendor is distributing their product, and ends up making the product look bad, because the customer now thinks they got a rotten product.

Waht's the name of the shop by the way? At this point, I would have no problem outing them.

Ok, i just sent the manufacturer a message on facebook this is what it says,

Hello, about a month ago, I purchased a LE80 box mod from a local vape shop, i had been using the freemax starr tank on it with .25 ohm coils, it worked wonderfully for a whole month, i only changed the coil once, a few days later, i was just sitting at home, and i went to take a puff and i heard a sizzle and the LED light on the mod went off and it was as if it was firing at max voltage, completely unbearable and HOT. Frightened, I immediately took the batteries out of it and inspected them for swelling, etc. They seemed fine, so i looked at the box mod, and i noticed the voltage dile was much easier to turn than usual and it was a bit off center from the cut out in the box. Well, i took it upto the shop i purchsed it from and they looked at it and said it was because i was using .25ohm coils, that .5 would fix it. I insisted he was incorrect and that if it was the coils then the mod shouldnt have fired at all. He said i was wrong and the only thing he would do is sell me a .5 coil. Since then ive tried numerous coils and they are all hit and miss, a few work well, but still when i hit the fire button the led displying the voltage will be inconsistent, sometimes it will read 3.38v sometimes 4.43v. Even with it turned all the way down. Also, sometimes it will be working fine, ill hit it, it will say 4.43v, wait a sec, then hit it again, and the led light will be very dim and say 3.38v. Anyway, shouldnt the shop i purchased from be more supporting? After all they are the ones that told me at the time of purchase that the .25 ohm coils would work just fine. Im very disappointed. Thank you for your time
