I was out having lunch this afternoon and walked past a shop I didn't know was there. Well, I went in and was shocked. I was looking at the liquid selection and prices. The guy was selling liquid you could get online for well under half the price he was selling it for. Everything in the cases were extremely cheap knockoffs. Everything. The prices he was charging was far more than you could get them anywhere else. That wasn't even the worst of it. I noticed he was chatting up some noticeably underage girls, cussing like a sailor, talking about drugs and sex. The guy was a total pig. Creep material. I'm all about supporting local shops and liquids from here in MN. Every shop I've been to here has been amazing, with really helpful, good people. Except for this disgusting .......... Is it wrong to make an extremely negative review of his shop on Yelp! to warn people?

There are a lot of good people in the world, and a lot of low-lifes. Both kinds can own vape shops.

I can understand higher prices in a B&M than online. Overhead is much higher, and you're paying for convenience. You're also, ideally, able to get good advice from someone who knows what they are doing. It doesn't always work out that way, of course. I saw a new vape shop near me one time, parked out front with plans to go in, and the guy inside (who appeared to be the only employee in an empty store) walked outside and lit a cigarette. Obviously, that guy doesn't know enough to give useful advice, he can't even get himself off the cigs. He's just in it for the money.

I can't see anything wrong with pointing out the bad ones when you see them. I also believe in pointing out the good ones, even if it is a bit more expensive than ordering online.

I get the fact shops have a fair amount of overhead to deal with. One of the liquid companies he carries is Vista Vapors. I like their products, but this guy is selling a bottle of their liquid which costs about 5 bucks online for 14.95. That's an absurd markup. Knockoff Kanger EVODs for 12.95. On the upside. I don't think business is going too well for him. The stuff in the cases looks like it's been sitting there for a VERY long time. You're right though. I need to promote the good shops, but I live in a small enough area that people probably already know. I love this local shop, Vaper's Way. Prices are extremely low, no knockoffs in the cases, they mix your liquid when you buy it. Great place. Tiny, but awesome.

Sounds EXACTLY like you walked into my hometown vape shop. My hometown shop sold zeus ejuice that you can buy online for only three times more!! Seriously instead of the six dollars this shop has it for a total bargain of 18 dollars! Also everything was a knock off. Going to this shop was the final straw for me and that's when I made the decision to make my own juice! I'm so glad I made that decision now! The cheapest they. Sold juice for was 12 dollars for 10 ml. I'm not joking!! He boasted that juice was made in town. I only buy off line and will never go to my hometown shop again!

No it's not wrong. There are far too many shops like you described. I for one don't like to buy online. Most of the shops that I go into try to sell you anything just to make a sale. I don't find the sales people very helpful or knowledgable. It's all about the quick sale. I have been vaping for about 3 to months. I have spent about 700 dollars tanks and mods. I can understand the cost of different juices but the leaking ang clogging and battery life issues have been frustrating. I purchased a Kafun clone thinking it was a lower line made by the same manufacturer. As it turns out the unit stripped the threads on my MVP. The screw for the bottom fill stripped and the screw for the airflow fell out by itself. When I took it back the owner said he would re thread the unit. Needless to say I longer go into that shop. The industry has a long way to go to legitimize itself.

I never had the privilege of speaking to this guy. I heard enough crap come out of his mouth to be turned off immediately. I don't like walking into an establishment I've never been into and hearing an employee talk and act like that. I'm lucky I've got a really great shop very close to home. It's a family run shop, their liquid is made at the shop and their employees are awesome people. That kind of thing is pretty important to me. 18 bucks for 30mL isn't that bad considering it's the best liquid I've found yet. Maybe one day I'll make my own liquid.

I think rather than posting publicly the name of the shop, I would send the owner of the shop an email with your concerns first. Maybe the guy you met is not the owner and the real owner needs to know how his employees are behaving and affecting potential customers.

If you don't get a reply in a reasonable amount of time, or you get a nasty reply, then by all means consider making the name of the store public.

Please post a Yelp review. Even though I don't live in your area, I rely on Yelp reviews to tell me whether somewhere is worth going to. Us Yelpers appreciate it when people post their experiences. :)

I hate that Yelp filters reviews too - there's a dog groomer in my town who's also a grooming school but doesn't tell their clients that. Several dogs have been injured, some seriously. Recently my friend took her dog there (I guess not knowing) and he wound up needing staples for the wound in his head. Yelp filtered her review, along with several others that talked about injuries to their animals... we had to get friends with Yelp accounts to mark her review "Useful" until it was unfiltered and appeared in the shop's ratings.

Anyway, yes, please Yelp. :)
