Internet says Fact.
However, it is worth noting that the folks at wikipedia have been unable to find a reliable source of the quote (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Archives/Miscellaneous/2012_June_1#When_and_where.2C_if_ever.2C_did_Nixon_say_.22I_would_have_made_a_good_Pope..22.3F) nor was anyone at the Nixon library able to attribute such a quote to him. Also, Nixon was a Quaker, so a figure such as the pope would have run contrary to his beliefs. Just saying it might--if you scratch deeper than the surface--prove to be a myth (I hesitate to use the "C" word because there is also no proof that he didn't say it).
