FACT or CRaP

A bat measuring just over one inch is the smallest mammal in the world.

Fact!!!!!!

The Etruscan shrew shares the title of world's smallest mammal with a fascinating creature from Thailand: Kitti's hog-nosed bat (Craseonycteris thonglongyai), also known as the bumblebee bat. It gets its nickname from its size — barely over an inch long — which makes it about the size of a large bumblebee!

fact

The smallest mammal in the world is the bumblebee bat (Craseonycteris thonglongyai), weighing in at just barely 2 grams and measuring 1 to 1.3 inches in length about the size of a large bumblebee. Discovered by Thai zoologist Kitti Thonglongya in 1974, it's also known as Kitti's hog-nosed bat because of its pink, pig-like snout.

Bumblebee bats live in limestone caves within forests and have only been found in small areas of western Thailand and south-east Myanmar. The bumblebee bats ' habitat is being destroyed by deforestation and tourism, leading the International Union for Conservation of Nature to classify the animal as endangered.
