This same thing happened to my Riva battery months ago. I was sitting on the couch and my BAT ran dead. I went to go pull a "FRESHY" off the charger, popped her on an atty and heard hissing. I looked at my BAT to find the LED under the button was off! I heard hissing and grabbed the Bat and the atty burned the crap outta me. I still have no idea what happened to the BAT to this day??? Scary though. Thank God I never kept it in my pocket. Saved the atty but I'm sure it toasted it a bit.

*EDIT* I understand this is a LT thread but had to share my experience. Trippy stuff!

ok, since the same thing has happened with 3 different mods posted here, could it be our batteries ??

I have 3 sets of 14430's and my overheat instances happened with 2 different sets ... these batts are from notcigs, came with kit and ordered same additional batts and using the charger they sell and recommend

different mods, different batteries, same problem ??

I wonder if our pcb's are from the same mfg ??

I put a 510 extension on the clearo to make sure it wasn't shorting out at the connection ... same bad result :glare:

recently, the same clearo might work for a few hrs, and then the IP power stays on ... very intermittent, I can't trust it as is, dunno if I can ever trust it again, even when fixed ... I have to know the reason why this happened :-x

My battery (AW IMR 18650) is still fine.

I'm not sure which chip is in the LT or the iPro, but generally the way these work is that the chip has a high current main lead and a low current on/off lead. If it were to short to where that on/off lead were permanently getting ground (or power, depending on the chip), it would bypass the switch. This is unlikely to be anything particularly common to the 3 mods listed here, as the LT is a step up regulator, the iPro a step down, and the riva is either regulated or a simple switch.

Does the cutoff eventually kick in on the iPro, or would it fire indefinitely?

my IPro fires indefinitely ... if I unscrew the bottom cap slightly to turn it off, then screw back on I sometimes get the red led, which indicates all good and ready to fire, I take a draw and it goes to blue and stays there ... or sometimes the Ipro will show the blue led which indicates power is on ... and the button will not turn it off, altho button clicks fine

just today I was trying to use it, the red led was on as it should be, I was holding it in my hand, heard hissing and sure enough it was firing, with the blue led on

the external ground screw, top cap, are all tight and there is no juice in the tube ... Buzzkill has mentioned that there have been issues with the pcb's, mine has already been replaced once and I just purchased this in Dec ... I haven't even posted about this yet in their forum, as I'm likely to go off, just like their product

I hope the LT doesn't have issues like this ... an acquintance has LT, he's had no issues, he says, that's why I bought
