So I have a k100 right now..and I'm using an igo-w on it.. It seems tobe working great but can't help but feeling I want a new device... I've been looking into different mods but nothing has jumped out at me yet.. I'm unsure of a lot of the details I guess... So I guess my first question is.. What kind of contacts offer the best conductivity with the least hassle.. (I like to fidget, but not every day or I guess every week even)... Also does or how does the tube material work into the equation of conductivity or performance? Another big thing I'm seeing is floating connected pins and adjustable pins or fixed pins... It sounds like adjustable is the way to go so my igow will be able to fit flush.. What the deal with floating pins? Does it require more fidgeting? Any advice or direction toward advice would be much appreciated.. Thanks for reading. I apologize for my noob questions. Just trying to get some insight

Hey,

Silver contacts are what you are looking for in your next mod, silver has a rare property to it which is that the oxidized layer is still a fantastic conductor. Copper on the other hand is far less conductive if it is oxidized. So, Silver contacts will need zero maintenance, copper contacts need regular cleaning (you can do this with a pencil eraser).

Floating adjustable pins are the best (in my opinion), they still have the ability to adjust to stop battery rattle, but are just more convenient than fixed or standard adjustable.

There is another option, which is the hybrid style connection, Mods such as the XXIX use this, it is basically where you get rid of the pin, you just screw your atty onto the mod and the center pin of the atty connects directly with the positive battery terminal.

Copper tubes are probably your best bet (as Solid silver is rather expensive), single joinless tubes (rather than telescoping or sectioned tubes) are best for conductivity.

How can you say no to this thing...

The quality of authentic devices is far superior to clones, my advice is to save some money and look around for (1) high quality device and pull the trigger instead of buying up different clones.

I would disagree here, it is nothing personal, but there is a lot of evidence to the contrary of that statement.

Yes, some clones are utter rubbish, but others are identical to authentics, some are even better (in terms of voltage drop or improvements made by the cloners). If you are going to buy a clone then just make sure that you read reviews (of the clone) to make sure it is one of the better ones.

Only a few original mod makers are justified in their pricing, others have just jumped on the price bandwagon. Some originals are made to extremely high tolerance levels, others are not.

I am not bashing originals here, I am merely stating that clones are often worthwhile in getting, especially if you don't know whether you like the device enough to warrant the expense (or if it fits in with your vaping preferences).

Yes, JRip that looks great!
How does it look with other attys on there?

Every point made here was valid in its own way. I, myself, like gold plated connections or silver plated connections. As for the mod itself, I have two stainless steel tubes. One is a Hades clone and one is a Sparta clone (with logo). They both work fantastic, and both have copper adjustables. Floating adjustable is the more desirable, as he said, and are much easier to work with. I made the switch just recently from mechanical mods to a box mod (iPV2 v2 revised), and could not be happier honestly. This thing performs like a beauty, even with a $24 atty (Stillare clone). It's a lot about personal preference: What do you like? What look are you going for? Does your mod need to double as a weapon (Sparta mod)? I think once you try a couple clones and find one you like, check out an authentic mech mod and you will most likely be just as satisfied, if not, a small amount more. Clones these days are being made better and better. I have yet to own an authentic mod, simply because I don't want to pay over $150 for something, when I can get a clone that looks and performs the same for $30. All in all, it's personal preference, is the point I'm getting at.

Thanks for the straight foreword view.. I know it's all preference.. I think I want some type of brushed stainless steel mod... Something with a lock ring on the bottom , as I look more into it silver plated copper contacts seems like it would suit me well.. I'm still I guess unsure about the whole adjustable or floating pins...maybe I need to watch a video on what that's all about... I really like the igo-w atty I have and looking for something that is for the 18650 battery and will fit flush with this atty... Thanks for all the advice everyone it's a lot more of what I've been wanting to know that wasn't made as direct when I just read thru other posts.

The copper 4nine, despite being a high-maintenance piece, is one of my all time favourites, having been through a magneto, a currently-on-hiatus triple 18650 diy box mod, a brass m16 clone with a fabulous floating pin, and a copper vanilla mod. Its simplicity is outstanding, and the hybrid top means no extra internal resistance of the 510 pin to factor in. As long as you are down to take an old rag and rub off the oxidation around the button magnets and 510 hole every few days, it's bulletproof.
