Ah; got it;

Another example of counterfieting.

Wow. That is the same as my authenticity code. No wonder there were 900 checks on it already.

I have a Protank 2 saved in my watch list from this MrMaxVapor guy on ebay. Hes selling it for $12.49. Im real interested in what the OP finds out about this seller

I contacted the seller and want a full refund including shipping.

Good; that's the only way to trace backward to the counterfieter.
You should provide KangerTech with the details - supplier, date of purchase etc so they can follow up.

I purchased what I thought was a protank 2 from smoke shop in the middle of nowhere while visiting a friend. later found that Kanger's name is nowhere to be found on the box or the tank. So I purchased a knockoff protank 2 for the cost of a real one. Only good part is that is works just fine, when using genuine PT2 heads...

I don't mind a good fake, I have fakes and couldn't care less, they all work fine, no real difference between my real ones. They are good fakes.

I bought some for my mates and told them they were fakes / clones that's why they were cheap. They couldn't care either.

Half of you download music and movies on the sly, what are you all grizzling about. As long as its sold as copy, fake, clone, replica and its cheap, then whats the problem as long as it works to your requirements for the price you paid. Didn't Kanger start of as a faker, that's what I heard :D

So today I went down to check out a Vape shop near me in Westminster, CA called Vapor Co. because they had incredible prices listed on their website for a "Kanger AeroTank (authentic)" for only $14.99, and I looked everything over and was informed that that was the "website only price" and that they cost $25 in-store. I figured for $25, i'll get an authentic one and after paying, i checked out the scratch-off numbers for authenticity, and it said it was queried 3409 times and had the serial number: 16800586814262323332.... the EXACT same number you guys have on your boxes.

Of course I walked back into the place, told him that it was counterfeit and some shady distrubutor ripped him off (i was playing stupid to see his reaction). And instead of rolling with it like I would have expected any smart criminal to do, the guy busts out with all sorts of attitude! He tells me "why do you think it was so cheap? I'm saving you money because the real ones are like $80". I then laughed and told him to give me my hundred dollar bill back as I handed him the four $20 bills he gave me as change. And since he was such a ....., I took the brand new hundred and held it up to the light to show how I had absolutely no trust in the guy. I then told him "thank you, have a good one" and left. His attitude was very telling. He got busted by ANOTHER customer, and his attitude proved he was not some victim of a shady distributor.

I reported the shop to KangerTech, and a friend who is an Orange County Sheriff.

Stay away from this shop!!

Same here.

In fact, from everything I have been reading on the "fakes" the ones with the Kangertech etched were made at the same manufacturing facility contracted to make them and run off as extras, like on a night shift etc. Very likely the blank ones too. Quietly out the door they go.
Maybe somebody else can verify this but I have heard they have no patent or any copy write on any of the designs. In any event, if they did it is a pleasant change to see the Chinese steeling from the Chinese for a change. :)

I bought off eBay and was more than a little surprised my numbers checked out on my AeroTanks. The guy I got my minis from said straight up they would not. For me, I want to know upfront and it should be priced accordingly.

The company name KangerTech is a registered trademark and anyone selling similar products under that name is in violation of the law.

Additionally, they have patents on all of their products. See manual: https://www.justejuice.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/KangerTech-Pro-Tank-Filling-Instructions.pdf

Now did you look up the number on the correct website? Because the fakes send you to a site that just makes the product look legit.

I didn't put in my code when i bought the Mega about three months back. I clicked your link and entered it. It told me I had purchased a genuine Kanger product.

I left the site and went back and tried it again and it said, Beware of imitations! This product has been queried for 1 times, the time of first query is 2014-07-30 07:55:32

Mine came from Stormy's Vapor Cellar brick and mortar store here in town. Good to know that her stock is legit. I never suspected it wasn't, but couldn't pass up the chance to check! :)

Yup, correct site. Everything checked out just fine.

I would have to look up anything you mention on a patent, in many cases the Chinese just produce as quickly as they can before they get ripped off that and waiting for patents or applying make everything available for anyone to see and rip it off before the designer gets a product to market..

I know the company name is a trademarked. As to them breaking the law? as I said, I don't care that the Chinese are ripping off other Chinese designs, pleasant change.

I had a similar issue with a local vape shop - bought what they told me was a "genuine" Aerotank, but when I went to change the coil...my replacement dual coils didn't fit. Went back to the store, asked for a refund, and was treated horribly. The owner told me "we never told you this was a genuine," someone else told me "this is an older version tank that doesn't fit the newer coils," basically a bunch of BS - plus they were downright rude and offensive. The tank works okay with the single coils I got for my Protank/Mini Protank 2, but it gurgles and I don't use it much. It didn't even have an authentication code, but I was such a newbie I didn't know there was such a thing.

Live and learn, but I'll never go back there, and everyone I talk to I warn against that shop. (Brew City Vape in Wind Lake, WI -- not to be confused with Brew City juice, which is amazeballs)

I guess it pays to ask, but the sign in the counter should say CLONE if it is. In Asia, sword making has always been an art. I'm sure there have been designs that were copied over and over. On Pawn Stars one night they called in an expert to verify that a sword was genuine and not a copy. He pulled the hand grip off and there on the shank was an engraved signature from the maker ... something of a trademark.

China is a different culture from ours. Government doesn't enter much into personal rights. It's ironic that Hon Lik and Ruyan are fighting for royalties these days.
