I ordered a couple MOSFETs from two sources, both claiming to be "genuine". I have ordered from both before and the products received that time were identical, this time, not so much. One came in a clear plastic strip of ten with a blue International Rectifier logo on it, the other came in a tinted blue plastic strip of ten with black writing. They both look slightly different, have the date code in different sections and such and have slight variations in size. Because these parts are so crucial I don't want to be using knock off parts, much less passing them off to others.

This picture you can some the differences in the logo and position of the codes and part number:

This one you can see the slight variations in package, pins and size:

So, are they cheap Chinese knock offs? Maybe they are both legit but made at different times resulting in the differences? What do you think? How do they look compared to ones you've purchased?

I agree with David, buy these from DigiKey. Although it's unlikely they're counterfeits; most likely just made at different times (and hence, at different factories). I've seen both kinds of markings on IR parts.

Counterfeiting issues in IC's are almost always the much more expensive parts; processors, memories, ethernet phys, and other relatively high-dollar items;even the Chinese can't make any money counterfeiting a $2.50 transistor.

The one I got from future electronics and the other from overseas from a company someone on .......... or alibaba hooked me up with. I got both packages yesterday and like a dumb dumb opened them at the same time before looking at them so I'm not sure which is from who. I figured the same, the manufacturing process would cost more than what they are selling them for but who knows. I saw pictures of "fake" IR MOSFETs with ridiculously small and cheap dies. But I think you guys are right. I built a box with each and they both preform the same. Seems like they're alright!
