I've said it a million times on several threads... I won't buy "cloned" electronics. Not for any other reason than I don't know anything about the circuitry or build quality put in. If one were proven to be safe; my in outlook would change. I don't need my kids hitting the button on accident and getting shocked. Not that I leave it lying around but I'm human.
My bottom line is my bank account. Call mea selfish thief I don't care. I bought provari and MVP among prayer "authentic" mods and all were test purchases. I bought and authentic laugh and it's great just as good as my clones only 4 Times the price-lesson learned. Make the mechs and attys worth the price over the clones and I'll buy them my caravels clone and patriot clone are just as good as the original only I was able to also get the kids school supplies too.
And I'm ok with that

When I start doing the things I do and buying the things I buy to please a bunch of strangers on ECF, shoot me.

I have many authentics and clones. So far, nobody in the real world gives a rats ..... Never once have I hovered over the "add to cart" button and paused to consider whether y'all would approve of my purchase. Never once considered how many I could impress. Not everyone has the luxury to buy an authentic mod. If they buy a clone because it looks the way they want it to look, so what? The clones are here and available.
I wonder how many "only authentic" people have a bunch of clones but are just afraid to disappoint a bunch of people they'll never meet.

Great point!!!
I only know one person in the real world with an authentic mech... One authentic with several clones. And the authentic stats home and rarely gets used. He has the same outlook I do though in the regulated mods. Buy original from reputable company or build it yourself.

Sorry but I love my DNA 30 Hana clone if I had to do it all over again I would buy the same thing 100 x in a row..... $65 vs $250 and it works just as good ;O

I wont buy clone sunglasses never mind electronics. I rather pay the money for the legit product. If I have to cut back eating out on Fridays for lunch to get that Hades or Provari so be it.

Oftentimes a "clone" just isn't as good as the "original".. sunglasses, watches, etc... the list is long.....

But, that's not the case with mechanical mods. My Electric Angel by EHPro performs and the build quality is just as good or better than my buddies original. Sad but true.

By all means I'm not saying it's all crap. I'm sure there is some real good, quality stuff out there. Just can't see supporting jobs in China when we here need them.

Side note....I successfully cloned Grants Vanilla Custard . I didn't design the recipe, I shamelessly copied it. I even made a Grants label for the bottles. I don't sell it....I rarely give it away. I made the labels for fun. Does that make me a jerk? I don't really care. I'd rather spend pennies for a 50ml bottle and vape away then spend 30 or 40 plus shipping, waiting and hoping it gets to my house. I don't have to wait for him to make it. I don't have to worry about him closing shop for whatever reason.
Just curious, why isn't the DIY forum full of threads busting balls on anyone trying to clone Bobas or stripper cake?

Well, I hear ya! BUT, I don't think many of the mods are made here in the US anyway.

I won't ever knock anyone for buying one... I've just learned from bad experience.
I bought a clone regulated a whole back and the ground was way under spec and soldered in the wrong spot. I'm sure out of the thousands made I was just a statistic but that was enough to me.
Besides I can get a 60 dollar kit to build a 30W device and my preference would be to go that route... I can blame myself lol

Here's my final thought on the subject. Not that anyone cares but, anyway...

The authentic mods are over priced. Simple as that, in my opinion. The clones that I have were affordable and they function and look very well. I never blinked an eye when I made the purchase whereas if I had shelled out the coin for an authentic one there may have been some buyers remorse there.

Does the fact that I buy clones take money out of the original designers pocket? I think not! They have a hard enough time keeping up with supply and demand as it is.

You do what is best for you and I will do the same. :)

JD, Equilibrium:

There are good original mods to be had in the $70 - $180 range.

Most, if not all, mods in the $200+ range are overpriced and poorly constructed. You are paying for a design on the tube lifted off of an Ed Hardy T-Shirt

Yeah but at least your supporting the original designer of that overpriced poorly constructed mod as some would say LOL , too funny .
