Fall projects. Where to start..

I'm working on a queen size afghan that is made with Simply Soft from HL. Its a work in progess and is only about 1/4 done in 2 weeks. Looks nice feels even better. This will be for ME!

Once its done I'm making very long shawls for 3 people. Which are x-mas gifts. I also have 3 cross stitch projects going. 1 almost finished 1 needs to be fixed miss counted and the last as like 15 starter stitches. They are being made for my moms spare bed room. All butterflies.

Then I have to make 5 teddy bears and make them overall's. The overalls are going to be made out of my hubby's granddads cloths. He recently passed away and my mil wants to pass these out to family members.
Problem is I don't make teddy bears and I don't sew. So I have a learning process to go through on this one. And I'm nervous. I have limited cloths to work with. But I'm the only crafty person in the family. So I'll get it done one way or another. It means to much to my MIL not to do this for her.

Thats just until x-mas list..LOL I do crafts year round or I would go crazy!!

Sounds easy. But I have 3 sewing machines. One belonged to my grandmother it is very very old. Still in its orginal bench/table. Scared to death to use it.
The next one is a 1970 so model. Very heavy. Next is a much new machine. I used it for some time learning to quilt. Mom came over and said my tension was wrong. Tried to fix it and now its broke.

Sewing is not my thing. Needles scare the tar out of me. ANY kind of needle. When I had my first daughter. First blood test. Some really big man HUGE came in and did it because I wouldn't behave. Well I went across the street after having it done to my doc appt. I passed out on the side walk. My kids go for shots.. Well their grandma takes them. I stay home and pace just know what is happening makes me sick. Sad I know.

Cross stitch I had my oldest daughter test the 'needle' first to see if it was sharp. It wasn't so I don't have to worry about poking myself.

I'm worried the needle will break and poke my eye out..... UGGG.
Gotta love living with anxiety/ panic

Have you looked around for a sewing repair place believe it or not they do still exist they are usually found in small appliance repair places give a few a call and ask them about sewing machine repair. I found one located in with vacuum repair he did an awesome job and it only cost me like $25 compared to what a new sewing machine would have cost me.

One of my childhood neighbors owns a sewing repair shop. And he does a great job of fixing them.
Problem is I don't drive =) and he is only open from 10-3. So I can't get it to him. My mom can't lift anything heavy to take it to him. Hubby works from 7-4.

When it comes times to make them I might just have to have my mother in law take it in. I just hate to bother her.

I would call him, if you put it in the car.. perhaps he will take it out for your mom?

I used to be the queen of messing up tension, my mother gave me a sewing machine from her childhood. Old as dirt green singer LOL almost impossible to screw up the tension, but I did it!!! She would never let me touch her bernina lol lol Now that she is gone I have it and I think shes watching over my shoulder, cause I have yet to screw up the tension hehe

I bought some fat yarn..lol It's called Sumptuous super soft and bulky acrylic yarn The strands are nearly as big around as my 901! It should be a nice fast afghan. I needed something for the back of my couch. The one I have now is hunter green and off white..it doesn't go with the couch. This one will be a cream and medium green.
I am crocheting but I am thinking of using a knited look. kind of like a fisherman's sweater from down East.

That sounds like some nice yarn to work with. NOT.. haha(j/k) It wouldn't fit between my fingers.. I bet its going to be one soft lasting afghan. The yarn I have now is pretty fat. Its like triple worstest weight yarn. But oh so soft. Kinda like fleece. I've never used it before and might not again. This one is a pita if you make a mistake and need to go back and undo. But I love the feel of it.
