Pffft get a flashlight and an extendable magnet and get that thing back.......

Was thinking along the same lines at first Silent ... but might be tough to do seeing as the vents are metal and there is likely a corner at first. Now a cleaned out shop vac shoved in there would probably do the trick easily if the little bugger didn't head down a bend in the ducts to the floor below :2cool:

Would that I could, folks... Sadly the vent in question is a baseboard vent (so it's long and very narrow) and there's a bend almost immediately under the floor.

When it fell it sounded like it hit the hardwood and bounced onto my chair, so I spent a frantic 15-20 minutes tearing around the 5ft radius looking for it. Perhaps I'll break down and give it one last sweep with a magnet just in case (though heaven knows what ELSE might get turned up!).

If you find my manual 510 battery, I'd like to know! I still haven't figured out where it is! How it would have made its way from the UK I'll never know but stranger things have happened!x
Did you happen to take the battery any where near your dryer? If so, I would imagine it's communing with all the lost socks in the Inter-Dimensional Dryer Vortex.

That's possible, but the Sock Monster is generally the one that eats socks.

He's blue, lives in your dryer, and has a snout like an elephant. He'll only ever eat one sock from a pair. The other's not interesting to him because he already tasted the other one. Besides eating socks, he's not a risk to children, adults, or pets. He's strictly a sockivore.

I dropped a 808 to 510 shorty adapter while on the love seat on the couch one time. I clearly heard it bounce on the rug then silence. I hunted all over the rug. Under the love seat. Under the couch. Even took a broom and swept all the dog hair dust bunnies out from under there. Looked under the recliner and swept out under there. At least the den was cleaner, but no adapter!

Months later I moved the love seat completely to get at some wires under a table next to it. Lo and behold...the adapter turned up under a dog toy under that table...way off in a corner at least 5 feet from the love seat and in the opposite direction from where I heard it fall. Hmmm.
