Faulty Clearo/ejuice?

Hey guys, I am itching to get into vaping. I got my first starter kit yesterday, an 1100mAh ego manual battery and a Ce4 clearo with wicks. Yesterday, I charged the battery for a few minutes (I was itching to use it) and then filled the clearo with e juice (Fantasia Fuzzy Peach Navel, for anyone wondering) gave the ejuice a few minutes to soak the wicks, then began vaping.

The flavor tasted off. I've had the Fantasia Fuzzy Peach Navel disposable e cig before, so I knew how it was supposed to taste like. But this taste was different, it had something plasticky on top of it, if that makes sense. Since this was my favorite flavor on a disposable ecig and I was really anxious to get it, I was unwilling to vape this disappointing juice and poured the clearo down the sink to refill with a different flavor.

I think this is where the problems began. I poured water in the clearo and shook it, then dumped out the water. I dry burned the clearo, I held the button down for long 8-second stretches at a time, and I saw large clouds of vapor emanating from it and I heard a crackling, hissing, dry burning sound. Then I poured in new e liquid (Fantasia Magic Dragon), not only did it taste off, but it burnt my throat.

I'm not talking about a burnt taste, but an actual burning sensation that made it painful to vape. I left this e juice in overnight, but it was the same issue this morning. So this morning, I tried to clean the clearo again, so I shook it and let the water soak in for several hours, then I poured it out, and shook it well to remove most of the water. I poured in new e Juice (Fantasia Ice Mint) and gave it 30 minutes to soak the wicks. I also took several pulls on it without pressing the button in order to "prime" the wicks.

When I vape now, the burning sensation has returned, tho not as bad, but the clearo burns, even with liquid in it. Meaning, when I press the button down, I hear the same sound I could when I was dry burning the clearo, even tho the tank is full. What's wrong? What can I do to correct it? I also hear a gurgling sound when I vape, but no matter how much I blow into the top or bottom of the detached clearo, I can't seem to get any e Juice out of it.

What do I do? I'm afraid I ruined the clearo through too much dry burning, but I don't have the time/resources to get a new one. How can I fix this? Also, I let the all three of the juices sit in a dark place with the tops off for like 8 hours, in hopes of making the taste improve. What can I do? BTW the burning sound goes away when I pull on the clearo, but it burns my throat when I pull.

Thanks!

First welcome to the forum! When I started vaping on my first ego and clearomizer it also hurt my throat and I'm not 100% sure whether it was the liquid, a needed adjustment period or something else. You may find you need to try different juices or allow for some time to adjust. That said based on your description I would guess you have burnt your wicks, and need to replace the atomizer or the whole tank if the one you're using doesn't allow you to replace the atomizer. Try looking for a vape shop in your area. It will give you a chance to try different flavors and juices. My vaping got a lot better when I went to my local B&M and tried a bunch of new stuff. Good luck and keep vaping.

This might not be it, but when I burnt silica on one of my early wicks, nothing could get the flavor back. Had a plasticky taste, no burning throat though. But depending on how many 8 second bursts you did, public could have burned the wick. The crackling popping sound is usually just juice burning, so if it wasn't doing that yesterday you might have hit it before the juice got to the heating coil, those wicks can take awhile to soak it up. Hard to say for sure without seeing it.

Thnx guys. i think the root cause of my problem vapor getting into the central cylinder, so im soaking the clearo in iso right now and im gonna let it dry overnight completely before i start using it again. i hope i didnt burn it because the burnt taste comes and goes, however, the liquid level got to like .7ml and the burning taste/feeling was consistent and i decided that was the time to start the iso cleaning. anyone else with helpful input? im mostly concerned for the burning sound, wasn't doing that with a tank fulla juice right outta the box, but then again, maybe the wicks weren't soaked enough.

Thanks!

On another forum, I've seen recommendations to rinse the clearo body and wicks before use, to prevent the plasticky taste.

In your case, I imagine that dry burning everything may have caused the truly burnt sensation. When your tank is empty, take the center piece out of the tank and give the wicks a gentle pull to one side (not much, just enough to see what was inside the coil).

The coils will inevitably char the wick over time. But if it's pretty dark from just a little use, then I'd blame the dry burning; the wicks love to char if they're not thoroughly soaked. Very unpleasant, and the burnt taste loves to stick around.
