I have the SVD, and it works wonderful, but it's a regulated mod, so I'd like to get some opinions on what my first mech mod should be.

So with that said, a few things to keep in mind. I'm not new to vaping, building coils etc. I know the dangers of mech mods when going too low / high, so I'm mainly looking just for what you feel is the best mech mod based on your own personal experience :). I'd also like to know exactly why you chose the mod you chose, how often you use it etc.

I primarily use Protank II's - not a big carto fan and cotton is basically the only medium I use to vape on. The SVD works perfectly, but I would like to be able to drop down to a slightly lower resistance (say .9-1 ohm). I'm not looking to go crazy, just lower than what the SVD will allow me to right now (which is 1.3).

I would also like to know what battery you prefer. I know about the AW IMR's and I know they're pretty much the gold standard, but I also know there are others on the market that plenty have been using in place of them.

So here's what I need - Links, of course, are welcome.

1). Favorite Mech Mod and Why;

2). Where'd you buy your mech (w/link);

3). What battery and a link (if possible);

4). Anything else you want to throw in.

I'm not going through fasttech as I'd like to have it in the next week or two. Price isn't a major concern, but I'm not looking to spend more than about $100 if that - If I can step away cheaper based on reviews, awesome :).

I like high end mods and my favorite mod would be meaningless without my favorite atomizer.. So for me it's a chi you with ac9. Not sure where you would buy right now but I got mine from preorder.
I use Cgr18650ch, aw imr2000, ncr18650, samsung inr18650.. So i use a rage of batteries.. they work for me.
The reason why I use mech's is to be able to use sub ohm coils on my genesis atomizers. I adjust my power with my coils..
Your price point and time frame would have best chances at fasttech.. I do not have much experience with the cloned mods but All my batteries have came from FT and have not had any issues.
Legacy is nice if you can find one on the classies.. Usually under 80 bucks.
smok natural is pretty good for the price.
And obviously the clones.. I will leave that one alone.
But for the most part any mech should get the job done and it all boils down to preference( switch design side or bottom), appearance ( appeal) , and craftsmanship( quality and materials used).

Well, not a lot of experience, but my research and aesthetics led me to Magneto: Magneto - Triangle Vape LLC

If you didn't know, batteries from RTD: Genuine AW Batteries at RTD Vapor

You would do well with the AW IMR 18650 2000mahs (10A). At the maximum you would want to push one:
E: 4.2V (full charge, I always calculate from the highest voltage I'll be putting through a coil)
I: 10A
R: .42Ω
P: 42w
(thanks ohmslawcalculator.com )
That's well within the safe range for what you want to do, so go for the longer battery life.

As for atties, I don't have much experience yet. I've done CE4's, protanks, RDA, and I'm waiting for a genny to come in the mail. Cant reasonably recommend anything other than to say "RDA's rock!"

Other than that, The nightcore intellicharger i2/i4 chargers come quite recommended for a good low cost charger. If you're looking to get an extra/spare charger. This little shop on Amazon has a great price on them: http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.htm...C7V8KB&rh=p_4:Nitecore&ie=UTF8&qid=1380752877

There is nothing you can buy for $100 that is both good and not a clone. You'll need to spend $160 min for something truly nice. You can always roll into a B&M and buy a clone from them (which they no doubt bought from fasttech for 2/5ths the price)

Magneto is just... uninspired

And that Private V2 clone is gross. Disgusting.
If you go fasttech buy this:
http://www.fasttech.com/products/14...tinel-m16-mod-telescoping-e-cigarette-battery
Because it's cheap, brass, and doesn't look like a Private Vx (prob the penultimate ugly mod on earth... after itazte 134)

If you want something good that's not insanely expensive:

I'm basically looking for something as solid as the SVD, but in a mech :). The Nemesis does fit that build pretty well and I was actually looking at it prior to posting this thread, I'm just not dead-set on it yet.

I'd really like to have a more solid base and spring. Perhaps something like the SVD has where it's more of a post than a spring (from plain view). That just seems to be a bit more sturdy than just a spring in the bottom of the mod.

iHybrid F3CTA. It's an exceptional hybrid, a great atomizer, and a mechanical ... all in one.

iHybrid F3CTA

AW 18490 Batteries : AW IMR 18490 3.7v 1100mAh (ECF5 for 5% off orders)

Frankly, I love my Zenesis just as much ... but the fact that the F3CTA is unique in that you can use it as a hybrid, mechanical, or use the genesis atomizer on other mods gives it an edge. Can't wait for the F3CTA dripping atty!

Hmmmmmmmmm...again...hmmmmmmm I like :). A little pricey, but I can see why given it's more than just a mech. They look to be sold out though, so anyone else carry it that's reliable?

Unfortunately ... like most hybrids ... they are hard to come by. Even when they DO hit the online shops, they sell out in 20 seconds.

Now when it comes to recommendations for a mech in the $100 price range ... as pointed out ... that's a tough one. Most are either dirt cheap or expensive. I WOULD have recommended the Legacy but Puresmoker went out of business.

What kind of mechanical are you looking for? Bottom fire .... side fire .... telescope ... etc? There are plenty of sites in the states that sell pretty dang decent clone and cheaper mods that work well, especially for a newcomer.

I'm basically looking for something nice and sturdy. I love my SVD, so something similar in terms of design. I like the bottom cap on the SVD because it's more than just a spring; it feels more sturdy and less prone to wearing out and I've put this one through the ringer the past few months.

I like the hybrid, it looks nice and the review I saw on it really gave it a glowing recommendation, but it's out of the question right now. I don't *have* to stay in the $100 range, just threw that out there to get started. $250+ is a little high right now, but $160 isn't too bad.

    I think the Zenesis 2 line is a great choice. Extremely versatile, modular, and something for everyone at their price points.

    Basically, everything has the same thread. So everything fits on everything. There are body tubes, switches, small genny tank, large genny tank, carto tank, and 510 cap. You can buy seperate and build your own, or you can buy a hybrid or mech all together.

    I currently have two full devices, and Im looking at a third(actually got it in my cart right now, just debating versus another device Im looking at). I purchased an Altus and a DX350, which is a Large Genny Hybrid, and a 18350 mech. But because of the Z2 threads, I also have a 18350 genny hybrid and an 18650 mech. Actually right now, Im using the 18650 mech with my Igo-W.

    There is also a whole line of Zenesis 2 compatible mods and parts from SteamMonkey. Hes got a very cool RDA, Switches, Body tubes, as well as a full line of RDa Hybrids and 510 mechs. All compatible with everything that is Z2 threaded.

    I really love my Z2 Altus. Even though right now IVe got the 18650 tube being used as a mech, 99% of the time, Ive got my favorite juice in the complete Altus(18650 Genesis hybrid). Its extremely well made, it looks awesome, its easy to build.. I cant say enough good things about it.

    Best part is that pretty much everything is in stock except for the Carto Tanks, which should be back soon. But the rest of the Z2 lineup is pretty regularly in stock. Electronicstix.com

    I have a few real high end mechs and a couple of clones. High end, I like my Trident mechanical with a Cyclone AFC on top. It looks gorgeous, and with the smaller chamber area of the Cyclone it produces a much denser and flavorful it. There is nothing else I have tried that has the flavor the Cyclone gives off.
    For a cheapie, I have a Nemesis clone with a IGO W top. Plenty of room to build duals or quad coils on top and with a drilled out top cap, makes it a insane cloud machine. For batteries, the Panosonic CGR18650CH or IMR AW 18650 work really well.

    dont fancy the K100? pretty cheap and working for a lot of people , i use mine all the time and it's built like a tank! got it for like $25 in a local vape shop it's basically an empire mod clone... a good vape especially when i go out drinking with the boys since i don't have to baby it and if it gets lost i won't be devastated... i use all size batteries on it depending on mood and occasion...
