I knew I should have picked up some VZ French Pipe! I was about to push the button on it but I saw a few bad reviews and opted for Old Captain. Thanks for the descriptions and suggested %'s. I plan on mixing Black Cigar with .25% AP (5%), .5% EM, .5% EV, and 2% Sweat Cream. That might take care of the intense chocolate flavor. French Pipe sounds like a single flavor mix though and that would be awesome especially at that % of use.

Taste is subjective, blah, blah but to my taste, French pipe is definitely worth trying. For me at least, a single flavor, shake and vape, has intrinsic sweetness, nothing "weird" about it, a reliable standby that I keep returning to. Very different from old captain. Don't get me wrong, old captain is good, just at lower % (at least for me). I don't know if this makes any sense, but to me, French pipe is like I could drink the stuff lol. It's not like some orgasmic flavor or anything but just a solid flavor that's really pleasant and I can't help but returning to.

Seeing someone brought up Inawera Virginia absolute I have 50 mls along with 50 INW Garuda thats now been sitting just over 2 weeks (June 29), mixed both with 60/40 base, 5% TA, no nicotine and mixed with a magnetic mixer.
I had a whiff of the Virginia and its real sweet smelling, a taste and its ok but super sweet... borderline syrupy. The sweetness masks the flavor it tastes like the smell of a just opened pack of cigs IMO. I know I'm going to like the Garuda, its kinda sweet but nowhere near like the Virginia but has a earthy wet grass mossy taste. I'm still going to let them sit another week or more before I vape them. The RTS blend TA is still my fav but I spent all my vape fund cash at BCV a few weeks back and well stocked so I have to wait to save my pennies.
The RTS blend TA has a "in your face" sharpness at 5% that makes my Hangsen tobacs great vapin. That in your face is IMO lacking some in the IMW TA's.

Holy ....! Black Cigar is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I have been trying to clone Halo's Black Calico for several weeks now. This is it! As for Old Captain--also very impressive! You were right about the old Carmel flavored tobacco, but it is a great one. You sold me on French Pipe and after trying the VZ flavors I said .... it and bought some. My new favorite tobacco vendor is by far Vaping Zone.

What is your % mixture to clone Black Calico? I'm interested and I think I'll give it a go.

3% VZ Black Cigar
0.5% Acetyl Pyrazine (5% Diluted)
1% DX Sweet Cream (TFA)

Probably could just leave Sweet Cream outta it. I always use max VG now with 10% de-ionized water, heated ultrasonic steep for 40 mins in a Bransonic 3800.

Honestly Black Cigar is perfect in itself! But Halo's Black Calico definitely has a hint of AP and maybe even a hint of Dragon Fruit IMO.

Thinking about mixing Black Cigar with Dragon Fruit just so I can name it Black Dragon.

Wow, 3%, that must be a solid chocolate flavor. You like chocolate!

If you like coffee too, VZ coffee mocha -- it's to coffee what black cigar is to chocolate. :) Amazingly realistic coffee flavor. To keep on topic, at low % would add an almost pure coffee note to any tobacco.

I've been on a HS Gold and Silver kick the last 3 days. Such a nice smooth and flavorful vape. GS leans towards the sweeter line of HS tobaccos (deluxe/flu cured etc). I pick up different notes in it at times but can't really put a finger on anything specific. When I reviewed my test bottle some months back I said it tastes like the sweet smell of an unlit fine cigar. I'll stick with that and recommend any HS tobacco lover to at least try it.

I mix @ 6% but don't use powerful gear anymore. I would go lower if using a subtank or low ohm dripper.

I mixed up 150ml of Gold and Silver back in May, vaped on it for a few weeks and then kind of forgot about it. Last night I ran out of the tobacco flavor I been vaping on and gave the Gold and Silver another try. It was a pleasant vape before but now its beyond good. Very sweet cigar tobacco flavor with an undertone of a flavor I couldnt really say what it was until I read the description on it at Bull City and sure enough it is a hint of cherry to it.
I would highly suggest Hangsen Gold and Silver to any tobacco vape lovers. Mix up a bottle of it, put it up for a couple months and give it a try. It is well worth the wait.

I got 3 50ml bottles of the stuff from buyhangsen when they had there GOB sale. I just love the stuff.
They still have 8 in stock if your interested, 50ml's for $9.95 is a steal. It's about a year out of date but I just mixed some this weekend and it's fine.

Yes! I never read a description. There was that "something" that I couldn't put a finger on. Grapes or some kind of fruit (very subtle) always came to mind when vaping it. For a stand alone flavor, it really hits the complexity factor. All of my favorite vapes don't taste like anything specific. It's probably what keeps me coming back (and also stuck on tobaccos). I got burned out so quick on fruits and desserts early in the game several years back. If I hadn't discovered my tobacco palate and got into DIY, I would have wasted way too much time and money trying to figure out juice that I can vape for multiple days in a row.

I broke into a 2 month old bottle of Indian (with some AP added) a couple days ago. I still haven't switched flavors. HS is crazy good if it fits your palate. I didn't even remember if I liked Indian that much when I cracked it open. Vaped a tank and was like "oh wow, this is some good S!" lol

I do need some more Gold and Silver concentrate. The 150 ml I mixed up used almost the whole bottle I had. Thanks for the heads up on it Danny!

I never really thought about mixing just single flavors until I started trying tobacco blends and now mostly what I mix is just single flavors. So many of them are really good all by themselves. Havent tried Indian yet but heard about it and been wanting to try it. Last few orders i made it was out of stock.
Another one I want to revisit is Lakita. Its was very good by itself but its suppose to have a smoky flavor and I am thinking even with speed steeping in a UC, it needs to just sit for a few months for the flavor to really develop. Think I am gonna mix up a few 30 ml batches of various flavors and give them a good old 5 hour UC steep and them let them sit for a month or two. Maybe even make up a trunk box where I can set them in the trunk of the car to help them along. Thats what happened with the Gold and Silver, it rode around in my juice vape bag in the car for over a month.

I actually don't care for chocolate flavor by itself. I think I jumped to conclusions of my mix being perfect. Black Cigar is definitely good all by itself in a 20/80 pg/vg mix.

I am certainly going to try can coffee. Going to vape the hell out of these flavors first!

Now you're going to force me to mix another batch and try black cigar again lol. I put it aside as too chocolate but maybe I didn't give it a fair chance. :) What does it taste like to you?

After reading a review that said Cigar was like Black Cigar except less chocolate I opted for the Cigar back when I ordered from VZ. I didn't pick up the Black Cigar so I can't make a direct comparison, but I can say the Cigar has just a hint of chocolate, to me anyway.

There's something about Cigar that makes it an 8 out of 10 for me stand a lone but I love it as a mixer. I'm down to about two ml left so I'll probably pick up the SC Cigar from BC next time I order. That way I can tell if the SC line from BC is the same as VZ or not as well.

I second their cola flavors are excellent, I mix a 2.5% blue and 5% red cola together and its OK as a stand alone. I then blend that onto a 5% Desert Ship as a 35 cola-65 DS mix and let sit for a few days then OMFG its great vaping.
I tried HS lemon, coconut, marshmallow, lemonlime and fruit mix at 5% and none of them impressed me by tasting good on the back of the hand then going flat in my atty. I never did blend the other flavors with a HS tobac like I do the cola but who knows the HS tobac could make the other flavors pop also
Hangsen tobaccos are a different story.....just plain great vapes.
