I am writing this in hopes that you will consider my experience with electronic cigarettes and how much they have improved my way of life. I am 42 years old and I began smoking at the early age of 15. By the age 18 I was a full fledged smoker at a pack a day.
During that time, I tried several methods to stop smoking since I could tell it was interfering with my breathing and my persistent allergy problems. I tried nicotine gums, nicotine patches, cold turkey and even toothpicks and peppermints to curb the cravings.
As a previous employee at a major cigarette production company here in Georgia, I am well aware of the ingredients and methods of producing cigarettes. They are not manufactured with the intent of selling to occasional smokers. They are made to get you hooked, period.
Since I started using the e-cig in 2009, I was able to stop smoking cigarettes immediately. I noticed that my lungs could hold more air and I could walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded. They have actually help my allergies and I have had my doctor in amazement by that fact. I have had my dentist tell me that my gum disease have greatly improved.
I choose to use a regular level of nicotine and continue to use the e-cig by choice. I feel that it is more pleasurable and after three years of use, I know it is safer. Much safer than cigarettes that are allowed to be sold with countless toxic ingredients with little regulation. To lower the amounts of nicotine and the addition of known safe, food grade flavorings would make them ineffective.
I only purchase from creditable US dealers and I am aware that imported products need over-site. That being said, I ask you to reconsider not moving forward with regulations that would make e-cigs more difficult to purchase along with the liquid that is used in conjunction. In addition, I have read many misleading assessments of the e-cig with very little study to back up the negative statements and should be stopped.

Got one in. It wasn't very long and it wasn't very good, because thinking about this kind of stuff, as well as what it reflects in the broader political sense is upsetting and frightening to me. I have a natural, God-given right to do anything I want as long as it does not violate anyone else's natural, God-given right to do what they want, and I'm not terribly enthusiastic about pleading with authority, nor in providing sentimental or anecdotal evidence as to why those self-evident, God-given rights should be respected.

Here's my comment for all to see:

Have been addicted to corporate-made cigarettes the last 25 years. In recent months, I've been able to quit smoking and actually enjoy it !

Previous attempts included nicotine gum (disgusting tasting things), patches (skin burns and doesn't cut cravings), and cold-turkey (felt like killing someone).

Within 2 days after beginning to use e-liquid vapors, I had reduced from 2 packs/day of 100's down to 4 or 5 cigarettes. The balance of the time I was using my Vaporizer(e-cig type device).

I began "vaping" at higher levels of nicotine (18 to 25 mg strength), and have reduced to where I'm using 6-12 mg strength after just a couple of months.

My chronic cough is entirely gone, my breathing is clear and easy, my mood is much improved. I no longer wake up with cravings, I no longer smell like a burning trash pile.

As with my previous cigarette usage, I avoid using my Vaporizer around children.

I am happy to see so many individuals able to stop smoking. I am also happy to see so many opportunities for small businesses.
