This requires all of us to take action.

The FDA is back actively detaining shipments from overseas:

WE NEED TO LET OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS KNOW THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

There are a couple of neat tools on the web to track down the contact information for your elected represenatives.

U.S. Senate: Senators Home

Select your State and you are on your way.

Example of a short and sweet letter:

Dear ______________

Please tell the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to stop wasting taxpayer money on their attempts to ban electronic cigarettes as "unapproved drug-delivery devices." Two levels of the U.S. federal court system have told the FDA they cannot seize incoming shipments and that they should be regulating the products under the tobacco Act. Yet the FDA persists in wasting our tax dollars on filing more appeals. They also continue to seize incoming shipments in defiance of the court orders. That costs money, too.

[Insert personal story here]

The American Association of Public Health Physicians has stated that products like the electronic cigarette could save the lives of 4 million of the 8 million U.S. smokers who would otherwise die of smoking related disease within the next 20 years. The FDA is supposed to helps save lives. Please don't allow them to kill smokers. Contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

I submitted a complaint against the FDA for continuing to confiscate products in U.S. Customs:

Please use the form below to alert the Republican Staff of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to fraud and abuse in your agency or other organization. Any personal information you provide us will be kept in strict confidence.

Im curious whether we as consumers could just file a class action against fda? Technically there needs to be no harm done by my understanding to pursue such.

This has been brought up several times Chief, and our legal members seemed to think it wasn't feasible. I do however think that we need to be urging all of our suppliers to band together and hire a single legal council to intervene in the still open court case presided over by Judge Leon. We as consumers could then contribute to the lawyer fund to help out our suppliers. If the judge would allow the petition, and I think he probably would, they could all get their supplies cleared in a single move. With the current decisions only applying to njoy, each and every supplier and manufacturer would have to hire their own council and start their own court case otherwise, not affordable for our mom and pop places, and extremely expensive for the larger ones.

Sorry to say but my Representative is recovering from a bullet wound to the head. I think i will send a get well wishes letter first , then after some time passes i will send one about the FDA. Sorry to say it but i think she would be the only one of my Representatives that would listen. But i guess i can write the others.

Trying to get in an editorial in your local papers is also a great way. One ECF member already had hers published and I wrote that paper and thanked them for it. Any encouragement from the reading community to a newspaper peaks their interest, since it's the public that generates some revenue for them.

Forgot to mention..notes sent to both Senators and Representative and editorial sent to local newspaper and note sent to Congressmen Issa. I am already a member of CASAA. Are you? Have you sent letters?

I have tried eight times over the course of my eighteen years of smoking to stop. I have tried going cold turkey, nicotine gum, Chantix, nicotine patches three times, and hypnosis twice. None of these methods has been effective for me.

Last July, my wife and I switched to electronic cigarettes. It has been easy to stay away from traditional cigarettes and their toxic chemicals by using electronic cigarettes. We regained our senses of taste and smell and our cardiovascular health has improved immensely. We no longer cough all day long and have not gotten sick once during this flu and cold season, whereas we were constantly getting sick in past years due to the detrimental effects of traditional cigarettes on our immune systems. Without our electronic cigarettes, I know we would go back to traditional cigarettes and see our health decline again.
