Yup...you're right. It doesn't make any darn sense at all.
The FDA has a weird way of operating- and I can't even begin to follow their "logic". I'm actually fairly well versed in certain FDA regulations, and I still can't follow it (yes, you can sell tree bark, but you can't say it cures the common cold- then it gets regulated as a drug instead of a
supplement). Thinking about it too hard hurts my head. It's like trying to reason with a drunk person.
I don't actually disagree with a little bit of regulation in the ecig market to keep it safe, and add a layer of respectability to it- but sanity, and common sense need to rule their rule making. I'm not betting on them getting it right.
I can LEGALLY poison myself with booze, herbs, cigarettes, junk food, and even prescribed drugs, but my heavens- enjoying a little flavored glycerin withs some nicotine- and it's "call out the National Guard, and stop 'em at the border!"
I don't get it either. You'd think with all of the various prescription drug problems that they'd have better things to think about and regulate. I think we all understand it though...$$$$$$$$
