FDA Report : Electronic Cigarette company responds

“VIP do not use Propylene Glycol as a base which is found as the main ingredient in many competitor cigarettes. Batch testing of the liquid ingredients using NMR and GCMS methods is carried out to maintain our high quality standards.”

Hmmmm......I wonder what the heck they ARE using instead of PG????

Umm--from their website--says;

"VIP does not use propylene glycol as a base agent like many competitor brands. VIP contains mainly water, nicotine, FCC approved food grade flavourings to provide a scent that emulates a tobacco flavour and a membrane to suspend the ingredients"

Membrane as a suspention? Come on, lets stop all the smoke--it has to be VG.

Under the FAQs of the site and clicking on how does the VIP work, there is this statement:

"The VIP electronic cigarette is driven by modern micro electronic technology, a small rechargeable battery and a unique, safe replaceable cartridge containing water, propylene glycol, nicotine, a scent that emulates a tobacco and other flavorings and a membrane to suspend the ingredients."

And below that question about ingredients, is what mpetva found:

"VIP does not use propylene glycol as a base agent like many competitor brands."

Evidently, either the author made an error in wording or the web creater did. This is the worst type of error an author can make because it totally destoys the statements made about the lack of PG in the article posted above their ad. The site was nice and easy to navigate but proof-reading and not contradicting oneself are more important than the former. ;)

Great catch! I looked at the Q&A page, but did not pick up on this at all, 2:29Am here (it's the only excuse I can come up with, LOL). I must be tired...it is, after all, . Would it be ok if I use your post and send it to them under their contact info so they can correct it. Will be interesting to see how they would/will reword it?

Simply because we need all the help we can get, and this certainly can not help, LOL.

From Dictionary.com:

mem⋅brane  /ˈmɛm
thinsp.png
breɪn/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [mem-breyn] Show IPA

Use membrane in a Sentence

–noun 1.Anatomy. a thin, pliable sheet or layer of animal or vegetable tissue, serving to line an organ, connect parts, etc.

2.Cell Biology. the thin, limiting covering of a cell or cell part.

So, by definition, our skin is a membrane. One of its functions is to hold our many organs in place. Sausage casing are also a membrane. They keep what's inside (the ingredients) in place. So, when the FDA used the word membrane in this case, they were talking about that little capsule that contains the poly mesh wich holds or "suspends" the e-liquid. VG would be considered an ingredient, not a membrane.
