I finally understood the purpose of government (including the FDA) by listening to podcasts by a guy named Alan Watt who has a show on underground radio. It's been a while since I listened, but I once heard him explain the war on cigarettes. It's not about our health (obviously), it's about the coating that cigs put on your lungs. Not swearing this is true, but many things he spoke of a few years back are reality today. He said the goal was to allow certain nanoparticles (delivered via chemtrail) to "install" in your lungs. Cigarette smoke causes lungs to be coated inside, which disallows the installation of said nanoparticle (nanoweapon?).
Seems farfetched, but makes a whole lot more sense than them "protecting" us. Hell, the only growing industries this country has are health care and privatized prisons. They NEED people to be sick! If they wanted to protect people from disease-causing cigarettes, they'd admit cancer is preventable (even for smokers) and make it common knowledge that disease grows in an acid environment. A little baking sode every day will keep your body a cancer-free zone.
For the same reason they put fluoride in your water (as did Hitler, in every area he conquered), they want your lungs to be receptive to their toxic goodies.
