Fda To Regulate E-Cigs As Tobacco Products

Blimey. That's crazy. I mean, here are all these people yammering about how bad it is to smoke, and now we have all these wonderful alternatives and they want to get a cut of the action. It's bad enough that they tax the hell out of analogs. Now, they're trying to find ways of making more money off of us. It sucks.

In order to replace the revenue lost from analogs the states will institute a use tax for online purchases

Remember it is a Sales and Use tax

This will definitely help legitimize the industry but the increased tax implications are definitely a bummer

E-cigs are cheap, im gonna be upset if it becomes as expensive as smoking

It doesn't make sense to tax something that could potentially help people quit the more dangerous analog cigarettes. Sin tax is not appliicable here. But I feel this is still the wild wild west in this industry. Anything can happen.

What about the savings to the healthcare industry every year? I thought sin taxes were supposed to help cover the other costs caused by their products...or am I wrong?

The relief of burden from all of us used to be sick smokers should help the country, maybe?

Plus our money is being spread across more small businesses versus feeding the pockets of tobacco executives, that should be good for the economy right? Or are we feeding China more :/

Why does the FDA feel the need to constantly harass us smokers/vapeurs? I guess it is the "in" thing right now. I don't see them trying to regulate fast food, which is bad for you. I just hope ejuice doesn't get relegated to the same status as the patch and the gum. The patch was useless for me (I would have rolled it up and smoked it if I could have), and the gum made me sick. I feel it is all about money though - just like everything.

Read the NY Times article by John Tierney. He certainly lays out the anti ecig battle and those responsible for our problems. I believe Bill Godshall posted the article from the New York Times November 8.
