I would just like to respectfully point out that the Perseid Meteor shower is occurring this week-end. 8-o

Always a good show though :)
And we in the Northeast are lucking out with clear weather!!!
I'm even changing my sleep pattern to catch some of the action!!

Somewhere out there
I agree the safest style ecig is the cig alike disposable, so not much can go wrong with it. I had one rechargeable cig a like pop and smoke a bit but no explosion, in fact people have tried to make cig a likes explode and they won't. There is a video out on that somewhere. They microwaved it, heated it, ran over it, smacked it with a hammer, etc and nothing blew up. I think it finally smoked a little, that was it. bnrk

The other posts put perspective on that particular concern. I'd just add, analog smoking is pretty dang awful. Maybe not in an acute explosive way, but in a prolonged damaging type of way. While one is a possibility, the other is an eventuality. So there are risks and there are risks.

Yes. Absolutely.

The tiny number of cases I've read of a lithium ion "exploding" in somebody's face, they lived to tell about it. Also, they were using cell phones, not e-cigs.

Very few people survive lung cancer...

We had a local news report a couple of weeks ago about a lady whose ecig "exploded". You know the drill, they spent the day hyping the story to get you to tune it at 6:00 PM. Although no emphasis was placed on it in the segment, the lady was interviewed and it was clear that she was charging it with something other than the charger it came with.

Wait! Wait! I got an even better one!

Being the lone computer geek in a family of medical type people, I've learned a bunch of things I never, never, never wanted to learn. This is one. It's also... I'm going to have to dance around a bit on how to phrase this one...

Pooping can kill you.

I am not making that up. Ask a doctor if you don't believe me. I just looked the silly thing up. It's "defecation syncope". Ahem, "pushing" too hard can make the vagus nerve go whacky and you can faint. Your heart rate actually drops suddenly, you fall over and your head hits whatever it hits. In rare cases, the heart can stop.

Now, see, this is the kind of thing that had me running from the "family profession". The human body is just... weird...

Good one! But don't tell too many people or someone will try to legislate it out of existence. After all, if even one death is preventable ....
