Fed Up, need cheap advice

I'm fed up with the eGo-C attys. To make it short, they give somewhat dry hits no matter how much I adjust the wicks. A primer with battery off makes a big difference, and works well as a fix, but I'm just tired of the hit and miss. (no pun intended)

Then there the leaking. Even the "C" does leak, not much, almost like condensation, but they leak. The atty coils do last a very long time though, but the wicks don't and that's means a useless atty.

OK, I do have 3 Stardusts (2 ohm V3) on the way, and should be here tomorrow. Depending on how long they last will determine if I stay with them. They sure can taste any worse then what I'm getting. If I can get a month out of one I'd be dancing in the streets.

I have considered Boge 2.0 carto's too. They fit into the budget and I've heard almost all good about them. I do think they look kind of dumb on an eGo battery as they are so much thinner and I'm wondering if there is some kind of cover that can go over them, like a cone. I'm certain the eGo-C cones with not work as they narrow in the middle as a stop for the atty.

Anyway, I've had it with the eGo-C tanks. You guys told me that would happen, but in the beginning I thought you were all too picky and mod happy. Sorry about that.

Please give your best advice, and bare in mind, and I can not stress this enough.... cost is a huge factor. I simply can't afford some of the great kits I've seen here. I need something very cost effective. As I mentioned, the Stardusts just might do it. I only vape Juggies Jokesmoke, RY4, and Mac Toffee (haven't got it yet, but going to) the only other is MLV Aarrgh Why 4, which I love, but when I run out I'll probably stick to Jugheads. The point is, I don't think those juices are tank crackers.

I also have a 1000 mah passthrough coming from JR's with the Stardusts, so battery wise it's going to have to stay eGo. So any other suggestions, or different kits will not help me.

Thanks, and I really need all the input I can get, I'm so frustrated, and disappointed to boot.

For the carto covers, any ego cones should fit, its a standard thread size. Something like this Ego Cone/Atomizer Cover Black or Stainless You can also get wider ones for clearomizers and stuff like that.

I don't really know what to say, you are going have to find something that works on your ego's. Hopefully the stardusts do it for you, lots of people like them. I really like v510 clearomizers, and kanger cartos.

I used to get so frustrated with cartos/clearos/tanks and whatnot that about 2 months into my vaping career I switched to atomizers and dripping exclusively, haven't looked back in almost 10 months now.

My atomizers last me anywhere from 2 to 6 months, now I know exactly when to top it off so I never get any leaking or dry hits, I'm in full control of my vaping.

A lot of people argue that it's a hassle to constantly drip, but to me it's second nature now, I just carry a small 5ml bottle with me and I'm good to go for 2 days.

Cheapest way to go is to use either Boge, Smok, or Kanger carto's. About $1.50 per carto give or take, and they tend to last a good amount of time. I use the kangers on my eGo batts as my daily out and about vape. Carry 5 or 6 loaded with different flavours and i'm good to go. With this rotation, I end up tossing 2-3 per week based on vapour and flavour. My :2c: worth for ya!

100% agree! Started with the ego-c kit as well and got fed up of the inconsistency. Tried the stardusts, worked good for about a week or so but found them a bit finicky too. Have tried both Boge LR and Kanger Horizontal Bottom coil cartos and they both work fantastic on the ego battery. Get yourself a drip tip and a couple packs of cartos and you'll never go back. Consistent flavor, no leaking and small enough to pack around all day with. Make sure to get the LR (2.0 ohm) Boges though, the ego doesn't have enough power for the 3.0ohm ones.

Have you considered a tank?

There are lots of different tanks to choose from at different prices.
You've got tanks with CEs and DC cartos and 808 cartos, 510 cartos....

There are the Royal Smoker CE2s in a Syringe Mod Tank.
I was happy with those from StormysVapeCellar
for about $10.

They will not crack and hold about 3.5 mL.
I liked the Royal Smoker CE2s and the Syringe Mod Tanks are very easy to refill.
You can replace the CE2s in them for about $4.00.

What I really like about a tank is that I do not have to constantly re-fill cartos.

I have several eGo passthroughs.
I love my Ikenvape XL Mega 808D-1 cartomizers with my XL Phiniac Pyrex Tank.
510 batt to 808D-1 carto
adapter for
$4.10

I tried the Stardusts // eGo Elegance clearomizers.
They vaped pretty good, but no matter what I did with the ceramic-cup cover, they would start tasting like plastic to me.
 Three of them cracked.

I have a Torpedo Tank coming from Jonah at Vapor_Age.
It uses CE2s as well.
I know that I will have better luck with it.
I've heard only good things about it at ECF.

After learning about the different types of tanks on ECF
(Thanks  Everybody)
I went to my Bing browser and typed in different kinds of tanks
and
did a lot of investigation into what was available from where.
I read the comments on the customer evaluations, and made some great choices for me.

Happy Vaping!

There are 2 problems with the eGo-C. The first is wicking. The wick becomes clogged after a few days & prevents liquid from entering into the coil. The 2'nd is leaking - this seems to happen when the hole in the cap becomes worn & increases in size. Replacing the cap after x amount of refills, seems to solve the 2nd issue. To top that all off, I found the taste muted after a few hours with each new atomizer head. After I went through the blister pack of 5 heads, I retired the Ego-C.

The Stardusts are much more consistent & offer more taste. They too, have an initial shelf life but are easier to clean & will last much longer. Aside from dripping, there doesn't seem to be a clearomizer or atomizer that will last for weeks on end without some sort of maintenance.

Aside from the Stardusts, give a try to the 2ohm boges & 1.7 Smoktech single coils & the Kanger horizontal coil cartos. All are very inexpensive thanks to ours friends at Canvape.

Hi redmerc!

I've been vaping since the end of July 2010...and in all that time...from the Joye 510, to the Mega eGo, to the ProVari...Boge 510 cartomizers have kept me happy. I strongly recommend that you get some of the standard-resistance ones, as well as the LR ones to compare. I've personally found the SR ones to perform better...but then I'm using a ProVari at like 4.5 or 4.6 volts. So yeah, try both on your eGo-C battery (they'll fit fine) and see which you prefer.

I have never, ever liked any of these CE-based cartomizers...i.e. anything with the string wicks. Blagh. They seem to invariably have wicking problems...and seem to often leak. At best, I feel they are inconsistent performers. I don't like them. But I know some people really really like 'em, which is fine. Opinions vary, lol. I mean there are people who hate Boge cartos too. So I can't really say "_____ is definitely good" or "_____ is definitely bad" in a truly objective sense.

All I know is you've been having issues with your eGo-C attys/tanks, and have asked for an affordable alternative. My opinion is that if you want a good, consistent, non-leaky performance for an affordably cheap price...Boge cartomizers are what you've been looking for. They're usually around $10 for a five-pak. Electro Vapors has the standard-resistance ones on sale at the moment for $8 per five-pak:

Electro Vapors - 510 Cartomizers Five-Pak (Black, Empty)

Being mass-produced means they're not perfect. I definitely notice when one of them is better or worse, stiffer or looser, crackly or muted etc etc. When I get a crummy one, I usually chuck it & fill a new one. I'd rather have a better vaping experience than save $2 with a sub-par experience, lol. But overall they're pretty good, and affordable on even the tightest of budgets. The fact that I've been using these exclusively for almost 2 years now, on every e-cig I've ever had...speaks to my overall satisfaction with them. I hope more Canadian vendors will start carrying them in the months & years to come! Especially the stainless ones...I just like the silvery look of them, and while I don't use tanks, the stainless are ideally suited for tank-users.

As to the Kanger cartomizers, I've never tried them before...but from what I understand they are relatively similar to the Boges (the main difference being the horizontal coil). It certainly wouldn't hurt to give them a try too. Oh and one more thing: when you try your Boge cartos and/or Kanger cartos on your eGo-C...try 'em without the cone. When I had the Mega eGo back when...I felt the cone restricted the draw, and kinda acted like a silencer too. Didn't like that, so I went coneless.

Anyway, best of luck & happy vaping!

Have to add my hat into the ring as well for Kanger Horizontals or Boges. I've tried them both and my preference is the Kangers - I can baby a good one for a long time - two weeks per one carto if necessary. And this is with NO cleaning or messing at all with them. The most important thing to remember for either of these is to make absolutely sure you do not vape them until they are dry. Keep them topped up and they will surprise the heck out of you. If you buy a couple of the stainless steel Ego cones to fit over them and a couple of nice drip tips ... you have one nice looking unit on your hands. The CanVape fellas also gifted me a Stardust to try in my last larger order of Kanger cartos and I am pretty impressed with it as well. Need to do some research on them though for the 'cleaning' process and what that entails. That will be the real kicker for me. The cartos are an absolute no fuss, no muss way to go and for people like me who either don't like to mess with stuff or have a tendancy to break stuff when they do, cartos seem like they are still the cat's meow. You won't be disappointed.
