Newbie to this forum, but have tried a couple of user-recommended e-cig brands in the last few years. They have not worked for me.

Unlike seemingly everyone else, I really *do* need something that feels like a cigarette in my hand. I don't care if it looks like a cigarette, tastes like a cigarette (as long as it delivers nicotine), how long the charge lasts, feels like a cigarette in any other way, etc. All I care about is that when I'm typing or on the phone (or both), it's a weight that can be held between my fingers as I do these things.

Anything else & I'm right back to analogs.

Suggestions, please?

Thanks so much!

I run a generic 808 cigalike for those situations, the only limitation you run into is having to carry a few extra batteries and cartridges with you in a case or pocket. Battery life is decent, and if you don't get a massive XL battery, the weight and size is similar to a wide/100-style analog. Look at V2/SmokelessImage/Halo for examples of what I'm talking about size-wise, and get a standard or 'shorty' battery if you don't mind recharging often, that'll be the closest to an analog in size that I've found. Also consider higher-nicotine liquids/pre-fills since the vapor production/hit on a cigalike may not be up to snuff compared to an analog. I never had issues with that, but a lot of people on here seem to. I hold mine between two fingers and can still use a mouse, cellphone, etc very easily, the only thing I miss is not being able to hold it between my lips and have a totally hands-free experience.

That's a tough one for me. I never really thought about the tactile sensation of having an analog in my hand. I was always more focused on the taste and smell. When I found a juice that I really liked, and didn't smell like residual smoke anymore I was completely converted.

The closest thing I've ever used to the actual size of an analog was a Joye 510, or maybe an eCab.

Hi

You are kinda putting us in a tough spot here since you say you already tried something that didn't work for you, and you want recommendations for an e-cig style that is hard for almost all of us to recommend. Before I even consider going there, can you please fill us in some more about what you tried and what didn't work about it?

Did you try the Joyetech eRoll? Those are tiny, refillable, and they come with a PCC that you can pop the whole battery into without taking anything apart. If you don't know what it is, search the forum. There is a thread on it.

The closest thing to a cigarette that I think exist out there are the disposable NJoy King.

That was my first e-cig. It tasted bad and the battery died quickly but NJoy came closer than anyone to nailing the look and feel of a cigarette.

I'm still with the cig-alikes; I use a Halo G6 and like it. Definitely need to carry extra batteries, though. I like the small form factor and even though I'm planning to try a slightly bigger battery (Triton), I just don't picture myself getting into these setups that look like flashlights or dildos.

My observations, thoughts, and suggestions are the following:

Using an e-cigarette is nothing like a real cigarette. You'll never find a battery and cartridge that is as light as ground tobacco leaves and rolled paper. Physically impossible; so every battery device is going to be heavier than a cigarette, so get over it.

Vapor is not like smoke. The sensation of vapor in the throat and lungs can reasonably simulate cigarette smoke, but it IS different. So get over it.

You'll never find an e-liquid flavor that tastes just like your favorite brand of cigarette. No one has been able to replicate the taste of burning tobacco leaves and smoke. It's impossible. So find another flavor, ANY FLAVOR, that you don't mind vaping and use that. You'll get over it not tasting like a cigarette before you know it.
___

Knowing from the get-go that vaping is different than smoking is the first step in accepting the conversion from smoking to vaping. They are not the same thing. Concessions must be made with the switch. If you are truly sincere about wanting to quit smoking, accept this and get over it.

Using an e-cig to quit smoking can have more success than other nicotine replacement products. The nicotine patch and gum replace nicotine, but the patch can not supply a larger dose of nicotine by rubbing the patch for more release...its not designed to work that way. Increasing your vaping can supply a larger dose of nicotine when its needed during a craving.

Chewing more nicotine gum will release more nicotine, but often at the expense of added side effects: nausea, upset stomach, hiccups, etc.

Neither the gum nor the patch simulate the hand-to-mouth ritual of smoking that is ingrained in our brains and an equal part of the addiction to cigarettes; e-cigarettes can do this extremely well.

Inhaling the vapor is different than smoke, but close enough to satisfy the pleasure of filling the lungs with smoke (vapor) and the pleasure of seeing smoke (vapor) expelled through exhalation.
___

Realize that by making the switch from smoking to vaping you are making a change from one lifestyle (smoking) to another (vaping). One that is likely much more healthy to you and others, and less expensive to boot.

Get over it.

They are insanely expensive but the disposable NJOY Kings probably come as close to mimicking the feel of a cigarette as any other vaping device. Despite NJOY's claims to the contrary they are only the equivalent to about 8 to 10 cigarette.

For something similar to the NJOY King with a rechargeable battery the Joye eRoll or Ovale eMini (identical device, different names) is probably something you would like. It is a bit heavier than the NJOY King and doesn't have the soft "filter" that the NJOY King does. It's a very easy device to use, the battery is regulated so you don't get a drop-off in vape quality as the battery charge runs down.

You use the eRoll differently than most other cig-alikes in that you take a few puffs and put the fully assembled battery back in its very small 1,000 mAh charging PCC case. That means it is good for 10 hours of average vaping but whack a third off that time if you vape on the heavy side.

Some people are quite content with their eRolls as their only vaping device. However, I found that I needed a cig-alike for psychological comfort as well as a bit larger battery for a more satisfying vape to be completely content with quitting cigarettes. Using the eRoll as well as something like an Innokin iTaste VV 3.0 might be an option you may want to consider.

Rocky Mountain Vapor usually has the best prices on eRoll starter kits. Use 20rocky for 20% off.

It's not all-or-nothing. Maybe get both a cig-a-like and an eGo twist or some such. That way, when the battery in the cig-a-like dies, you'll have a backup nicotine source. Do whatever works for you...THAT is the correct answer. Just don't trap yourself into a "only one thing" binary thinking. You can use both types at the same time.

IMHO, a cigalike is a cigalike is a cigalike so, go with the cheapest you can find. That's probably going to be at a smoke shop, convenience store or, truck stop, or even Wal Mart. The white carto caps can be popped off those and they can be refilled with the juice of your choice. (look up refilling cartomizers.) Just accept that they will taste lousy when you buy new cartos and, you have to vape that stuff so you can refill them, and you'll need 3-4 batteries to last the whole day.

I would suggest you could take a pencil or the casing of a bic pen (you can cut them to the same length as your usual cigarette if you need to), use that to curb your addiction for having something in your hand ...but have an eGO device close at hand for your nicotine.

I'm like others here who really don't think there is a solution for you in the cig-a-like world. The diameter will be close, but the length and weight of most cig-a-likes are going to feel awkward ...and the ones that are 'close enough' are pretty much useless as an e-cigarette to keep you from smoking.

What's your goal?

You're talking about different things. You say you tried e-cigarettes that look like a cigarette, and you tried those that don't and neither worked.

How long did you smoke?

I have a prosmoke and also a plastic "pack" that a bought extra the pack charges the extra battery that I have and I fill the carts with whatever i'm vaping at the time it works good and I use it when I don't want to be obvious to the fact that I'm vaping. Looks like a cig and smokes like one. don't use it much anymore since I found out about vaping and bought all this other stuff.

I thought I would need a cig like vaping device but IMHO that all changes after a while. I just began to love whatever gave me the nicotine I am craving and allowed for good vapor. Don't put limits on what will work for you and what won't. You will be surprised at how little that feeling of a cig between the fingers matters after a week or two.
