Just got my prodigy v3.1 in the mail and after giving it an initial charge I dripped about 20-25 drops into my carto and immediately tried it out.
Here are some issues, I'll number them for easier answering.

1. Unusually harsh compared to my friend's prodigy v3
2. Is it okay to use it without a tip? I'm drawing directly from the carto with the rubber inside.
3. If I wanted to use a atty + drip cartridge, which one would be the best route? I feel like the 510 cartos I have are harder to use for me since I just began vaping. (drip technique etc.)
4. Do I need to buy another adapter to use a atty on it?

My set up:
Prodigy V3.1
510 Adapter + LR Cartos
3.7v

Thanks!

Welcome to vaping! The Prodigy is a great mod, very solid feeling device, I'm sure you'll love it!

Okay, lets see if we can do this in order. :)

1. There could be a lot of reasons the vape is harsher than from your friends V3, Your LR carto could be lower than what your friend was using, causing it to vape hotter. (Even within a box of LR cartos, the resistance will vary slightly from carto to carto) Your freshly charged batt will be putting out ~4.1V to the carto when fresh off the charger, but will drop into the 3.6-3.8V range pretty quickly. Your friends V3 could have had a battery with less than a "right off the charger" charge giving you a bit less 'oomph' and finally, I've experienced some brands / types of cartos giving me harsher TH and flavor than other brands / types. One, or all of these reasons could be the source for your harsher vape.

2. Using a carto with the included rubber cap is fine. I do it myself. Some users just prefer the feel, and comfort a drip-tip offers.

3. Since you got your prodigy with the 510 connector, a 510 atty would be a logical choice. The 510 cartridges are useable, but I'll bet you'll outgrow them pretty quickly. Some members have experimented with all manner of fillers / tricks to get a 510 cartridge to hold more juice / wick better. (Try searching the forums for filler mods like the PTB mod, and blue filler mod) "Dripping" is just adding a couple drops of juice directly into the atty, and vaping that. (I, Myself am a diehard 510 dripper) A drip tip is a tip that is hollow, and allows you to drip liquid through it, without having to remove it.

4. No. A 510 carto, and a 510 atty are the same threads and are interchangeable on your 510 Prodigy. No adapters needed!
Now, if you wanted to try an 801 atty or 801 carto, then you would need to purchase an 801 adapter.

Congrats on the new mod, and Enjoy!
