Hello!
I was looking at the Prodigy v3.1 for my wife.. I was looking for the batteries for it and the website mentions they take 2 RCR123a's for 6v vaping.. What is the difference between RCR123a's and ICR123a's.. I have gotten mixed info.. at first it looked like the RCR was 3.0v and ICR was 3.7v.. but then the "small print" said the rcr were 3.6 fully charged and 3.2 nominal.. so it sounds like they're the same as the icr123a's.. Could someone fill me in on the difference, if any.. I want to know if i can use my 3.7v AW ICR123a's in the prodigy.. Or if I need the RCR123a's, I need to make an order :)

Thanks!
DJ

They are not the same, and some chargers will only charge one kind, and should not be used on the other. The difference is in the battery material itself. The 3.0V cells are a different electrochemical material than the 3.7V cells. Without going into chemical details, they require different charging voltages and currents. they may have the same dimensions, but they are fundamentally different batteries, and you should use chargers specific for the kind. This is why PS sells a separate charger for the RCRs, as these are LiPO4 batts, and different than the usual 3.7V Li-ion batts.

As for what you can or cannot use in the Prodigy, it's always best to contact the vendor and ask them directly. It looks from Pure Smokers' site that you should be able to use either for the V3, but best to contact them directly. They would know the best, as they would know what internals were used, and what their ratings are.
