Guess who finally decided to get a Prodigy v3.1?

Okay. For starters, I was a 1 1/2 pack-a-day smoker of Marlboro reds before trying out the standard and high-powered DSE 801 kit at 6v (available only from LiteCig USA, to the best of my knowledge). The HV model worked quite well; however, they run out of stock quickly, which left me in the lurch. Then it was a toss-up between the Prodigy and the eGo, but wasn’t quite sure the eGo would satisfy my needs. While the eGo is a great model, after reading SlomChom’s opinion of the Prodigy over the eGo (which is what I suspected would be the case), I’m glad I went with the Prodigy instead. For someone who doesn't compromise on throat hit, this is beyond my expectations. While it’s going to take some getting used to, I have no regrets, and certainly couldn’t ask for a more durable, reliable model.

Thanks for your opinion of the zip tip as well, julep.

Hiya SlomChom and julep........I ordered mine on Sunday, and it was shipped yesterday. I'm upgrading from the 801 (still plan to use 801 and BE112 atomizers, tho). I'm going with 6v. Can't wait!

:)

I would also like to hear any advice that one might have to offer. While doing some research, I came across one poster who suggested leaving the batteries out of the charger for about an hour after charging to allow the voltage to decrease somewhat. I guess the higher voltage can pop atomizers. That may not apply to 3.7v, tho.

Hello Autumn, I have a V3.1 and I love it!! I run 2 Tenergy LifePo4 batteries in it with an Ikenvape HV Atomizer and it rocks the house BIG TIME! I have a saber touch also and I like it, but it is not as nice as the Prodigy to me. Also, I have been vaping 6V for a long time and the biggest thing to remember is to keep that atty WET at ALL TIMES!! I have only lost 3 atomizers in over a year vaping. So if someone keeps popping them, it is probably due to running them too dry.

I also like the standard Joye510 atomizers at 6V but the LifePo4 batts put out too much current for them, usually taste burnt. I use the Blue Tenergy Li-Ion batteries instead and they seem to work really nice. The blue batts have a chip in them to lower the voltage from 3.7V to 3.0V so 6.0V for the pair. I have had really good luck with them, still running sames ones for over 6 months.

Anyway, that is my 2 cents on 6V vaping. Have fun and enjoy your Prodigy!!!

Hi Chainvapor...........thanks for the advice. I was having a problem with a burnt taste, and since I'm using Halo Fusion (unflavored), I figured it shouldn't be too difficult to troubleshoot. I was using 4-5 drops previously and quickly learned that I needed to up my drip count. Problem solved.

As a side note, I accidentally pushed the button when I took the tip off to drip, and was kinda thrilled by that fiery glow coming from the inside of the atomizer. Yeah, baby...........

haha .... you got lucky you are using 801's :) If those were SR 510's at 6v, you would have popped it!!!

When you do make the switch to BE112's, you will be pleasantly surprised. For me they last 2-3 times as long as 801's, (literally, a new one every 2-3 months, and not because it died, just because I felt I needed a new one)

Enjoy this learning experience Autumn ... Sounds like you have learned quite a bit already!

Hiya Cash. From what you and chainvapor said about the BE112s lasting as long as they do, I began thinking that I don't need to purchase 25. But then, I do plan to use a standard 801 battery occasionally, and when I have used the standard battery with the 801s in the past, I went through atomizers rather quickly. So I think the bulk purchase will be justified. I just hope they don't leak as often as the 801s!

And yeah, I have done some research. I wish I had done a bit more before I went with the 801 initially, but the majority of people I found who use it seemed pretty satisfied. Truthfully, I probably wouldn't have switched to the Prodigy as my main device had the 801 behaved consistently, and if more vendors carried the 801 high-powered batteries. But then, they are auto, so they're not drip friendly. It really is quite amazing how much power the standard sized, high-powered version 801 battery delivers. It's rated at 6v, but in comparison with the v3.1 at 6v, I think the end output is actually closer to about 4.5.

Thanks again for all of your input, and for delivering such a great product. I'm beyond impressed.

:)

By the way, for anyone reading this who is thinking about picking up the 801 high-powered batteries, please keep in mind that the threading is different, and they do not fit the standard or HV 801 atomizers or the standard 801 charger! I only figured this out after buying HV 801 atomizers from a couple of different vendors, assuming they would fit the batteries. Lol.......what was I using the batteries with, then? The compatible 801 high-powered atomizer from LiteCig USA, which to the best of my knowledge is the only vendor who carries either one.

Due to compatibility issues, one has to wonder why it's even called an 801 at all, other than its appearance, which is identical to the standard model.

Chainvapor, could you tell us where you found the Blue Tenergy Li-Ion batteries.
Thanks

take some pictures Autumn :) Would love to see her shine !

Here ya go, Cash.

This was taken in natural indoor light. You can probably see the reflection on the leather there. Yes, she is gleaming, almost on par with the 801, with the exception that they are two different types of metals. I plan to go over it one more time, and then will have the bf take some photos with his Nikon, in the sunshine perhaps.
