Hi folks,
If this is in the wrong place I apologize. I'm sure this has been discussed here but I don't even know where to begin. So finally the wife went to vaping instead of smoking. The problem is she wants to blow huge clouds. She went and bought an istick 100W mod. I'm pretty knowledgable about just regular old vaping but I know nothing about clouds. I don't care how big the cloud is as long as the taste is good. I told her I'd get her setup So I have a few questions.

1. Are there any kind of tanks I should be looking at? Something that we don't have to rebuild. I've tried rebuilding, not for me and there's no way she's doing it. Something simple but has quality would be great.

2. Any special kind of juice? What pg/vg ratio? What nic level?

3. What wattage/voltage is best? I know about ohms, the higher the resistance the higher the voltage. But I'm not real sure about wattage. I use a provari, lol

4. Do you lose throat hit when chasing clouds? This is more a question for me because I need a strong throat hit. She likes a throat hit too but not as much as me.

As you can see I feel like a newbie again. Any help I really appreciate. Even if someone can give me a few threads to look at.

Thanks everyone

freemax starre pro, aspire atlantis, aspire triton, herakles are a few subtanks that come to mind for subohming. use a max vg juice she will have to find what wattage works best for her before the vape either gets too hot or starts to get dry hits. start at 30 watts and work her way up in 5 watt increments when it tastes like doo doo back down 5 watts.

I'm a middle of the road cloud chaser. I actually don't chase the clouds but to me getting a good vape generates a cloud so it is what it is. Also after so many years as a smoker not seeing some "smoke" come out when I breathe just doesn't feel like me.

Using store bought coils you have roughly 87 million options but that number could be off as with the time difference with China 700000 new tanks came out overnight.

So a HUGE consideration is how do you intend to replace coils?? If online then get what you want. If local get whats hot in your area. Preferably at more then one store. Subtank and Aspire products are very common.

Higher VG will give a better cloud. And better flavor. But less throat hit. So finding that balance is gonna be different for all of us. Seems like most juice sold is 70-80% VG and I've found that I like that so I'm lucky.

Nic level will need to be low. Way low. Like near zero. I'm at 6mg but if I'm vaping alot I switch to zero. Nic sick is fast and easy at these power levels.

Wattage is tank dependent. Right now I'm back and forth between a Subtank and a Goblin. The Goblin chucks a massive cloud at 20w and the the STM is at 40w and half the cloud (and lower ohms as well). No way to answer power without the tank.

You may want to retry rebuilding. Todays dual coil tanks and nothing like the fiddly Kayfuns of just afew months ago. For 30 bucks you could have an authentic Goblin and wire and wick for just over 300 years and she'd be ripping monster cloudz off an iStick.

I'm not necessarily a cloud chaser, but I do have a couple of pointers. First off, you might want to look into a sub-ohm tank for your wife. The Kanger Subtank is a good choice since you have the choice of using pre-built heads or building your own coils with the RBA deck. Truth be told, it's pretty easy to build coils on the RBA with that tank, even if you're not interested in building right now.

For juice, the more VG, the more vapor production you'll get. Throat hit comes from PG, so you WILL lose that with higher-VG juice. However, flavors seem to be more pronounced from my experience. YMMV, of course.

Also, higher watts will give you a warmer vape as well as more vapor. Again, the Subtank is nice for this with the .5 ohm head installed. I like to run mine at 20-25 watts. Not too warm, but decent vapor production. Hope this helps, vape on!

You will need a mod that puts out at least 50W, but I would go closer to 100W. Most of the newer/better cloud chasing subohm tanks are rated for 50 - 100W. If you have no desire to rebuild, go with one of these. I build my own, so I don't have a lot of experience with sub tanks, but I have tried a few. The Arctic, Delta 2, and Atlantis are all pretty good. I hear good things about the Freemax Starre and Aspire Triton as well. Most of them will need AT LEAST 50W of power from what I hear. If you underpower a subtank, they tend to flood and gurgle and spit in your mouth. There's also temperature control to consider. Some tanks offer TC coils and there are a lot of mod options as well. Do some research with the wifey and see what she likes as far as looks. Start with a tank and see what it's power requirements are. Then look at mods in that range and find one she likes. When you find what you/she like(s), come back here and ask questions and look at reviews. There is a website that shops all the popular/trusted vaping websites and finds you the best deals and coupon codes when you are ready to buy. Vapecrawler Type what you want into the search bar and it will do the price shopping for you.

all good advice so far.
the Kanger subtank is a good tank, and it will give you plenty of vapor. easy to get replacement coils for it. but i do find the the Horizon Tech Arctic tank is way better for that. coils can be easily gotten from most vape shops, or online for better prices. there are 4 coil options for it as well. the air flow on it beats most of the current subtanks. i haven't tired any of the newest tanks yet, but i will as soon as my shop gets some in. i do own 2 kangers and they are great everyday tanks. i just find i like the arctic way better. i get 2-3 weeks with a .5 ohm arctic coil at 50w using max VG juices.

the new Triton tank from aspire is suppose to be pretty good too. i just haven't gotten my hands on one yet to play around with it. i pretty much drip all day, and i use my arctic when im driving, A its easier then dripping, B its the closest thing to a dripper in tank from that I've tried so far

SMOK TFV4, 0.15ohm quad coil, 90 - 100 watts, max VG, remember to lower your nic 3mg is more than enough for this.. Now you have massive clouds and incredible flavour, still getting a nice throat hit. :)
A good juice is needed, depending on what flavours you like..
