Just wondering, why do people need to change the fiber in the carts? I wash mine out under some running water and dry them with a paper towel and it seems to work. Do they go bad? What happens when they do? They dont seems to burn or anything. Also, how does the juice go from the carts to the atomizer? is it just gravity that seeps the juice down to the heating element?
Thanks

Over time, you might start to see the fiber fray/smolder, then you know its probably the best to just start a fresh one. juice is transferred via that metal arch you see in the atomizer. That metal arch is made of steel mesh which in essence, absorbs the liquid from the cart (or drip ... if you do it) and transports it to the heating element.

People change the filling out because it begins to degrade over time. It's also much easier and faster than going through the tedious process of cleaning them out all the time (and since a roll of polyester fiber fill is like...$2.67 for 18 years worth of carts, why not?)

Also, the process of the liquid getting into the atomizer is called "wicking". It's the same process by which you can just barely touch a piece of tissue to the surface of a glass of water and the water will be pulled up in to the tissue.

Try it sometime :)

I also have a fiber fill question. It seems like I could fit at least twice as much fiber in my RN4081 cartridges, so should I? Or would it hold the same amount of liquid (or less) because the fiber would be more compressed?

You don't want to.

It should be somewhat loose packed so it can still wick properly. If you over-stuff them the filling will be too compressed and won't hold the juice properly...Basically, it will put a death grip on it and won't let it flow out in to the atomizer.

I think there is also a fair amount of 'suction' as well as 'wicking' involved in how the liquid is transferred from the fibre to the metal mesh element.

As a word of warning don't do what I did and try using some hollow fill fibre from a pillow..it seemed to work great until a piece of the fibre got onto the heating element....the taste of it was awful and took ages to wear off.

I have found that the most important thing, by far, is to make sure that the fibre actually TOUCHES that metal mesh arch. If you simply top up the cart and replace it, the contact may be imperfect and this gets worse as the fibre ages.
Before topping up, I always tease the fibre OUT of the cart by about 2mm. This means that when I replace the cart, the fibre is bound to make good contact.
It makes a difference, folks!
It's dead easy with 901s and Janty Classics, but nigh on impossible with super-minis.

I bought my cloud9 with 100 extra carts, found the best filler was the aqua-tech blue filter material from wal mart, so iredid all them, then realized i only really need 10 carts at any given time, if fill all they just go bad by time i got to use them so I keeping 10, giving away other 90 to any one that wants them, to keep it fair only 5 carts per person just send me a SASE. I will send ya 5 of the best rn4081 carts, just perfect amount of fill to draw good and not leak,

BTW, all carts have had an alcohol bath to remove germs ;)

newbie question -

I'm readying myself to purchace a Janty eGo I think. It comes with 5 prefilled carts - I'm assuming that these are reusable?

Would I clean them out and then replace the (filler?) and drip directly on that?

My only experience with vaping thus far is my KR808. I'm loving the whole vaping experience but am longing for longer battery life and perhaps better flavor.

Thanks so much and happy vaping!

The carts are reuseable. Just pop them off and drip into the filler until it's moist. Siphon off any juice that pools on the top with a paper towel or whatever. You don't necessarily need to wash or replace the filler unless it's a different flavor juice, or it's not performing anymore.

You might want to look up the coffee straw mod, it works great in the 4081 liquid carts.
