Color of the battery doesn't mean all that much.
I was a sucker and got one of these overpriced things and it just sits.

For the price of that one battery I've acquired at least a half dozen Ego type batteries, lots of cartos and juice and vape continuously from them. I haven't touched the Trio since I tried the Ego. And these kits start at $20-40 and blow the socks off the Trio.

Is this like yours? Fifty-One TRIO

WOW, $130 for a mini battery model and $50 for a battery!!!!!!!!! Just amazing how some suppliers completely rip-off new people to vaping.

Unless you are a very light smoker/vaper (i.e. 3-4 a day), you would be better served to get a model that will give you 5 -6 hours on a charge and provide more consistent performance. The batteries will last 10 time longer than the 51's and only cost $4.00 each. I would look at the E-Power 510 or the Kgo. You can get the complete starter kit with two batteries for $35 - $50 or less than the cost of one 51 battery:

e-Power

KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

Crystal Clear Vaping

Good for your loving wife to buy you an eCig! Unfortunately, these do not work that well. They are too small. The battery does not last that long, and it is next to impossible to refill the cartridges. I got one from an on-line promotion. I gave it to a friend after buying an eGo type PV. You need power (good batteries) and fuel (good eJuice) to get things rolling on this vaping course. Use it, but I would not spend any more money on making it work "better".

Get something like this: eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers

Or this: Riva SE 510 Kit | Sweet-Vapes E-Liquid

The second one will cost you as much as it wil just trying to get your Fifty-One working "better" - which will be nearly impossible.

Keep the one your wife gave you and realize it might have been what got you on the vaping trail, but use a full size Personal Vape device (PV) if you want the full experience without a lot of hassle.

Cheers!

rootgray I'm glad you are giving the vaping thing a try. I'm currently helping my dad to try and make the switch. My dad also started out with the Trio mini starter kit from Smoke51 which was purchased from a local gas station for $20. Both him and myself agreed that it had a really strong tobacco smell. Also he smokes lite cigarettes and the trio was not a lite cigarette flavor. Since then I have gotten him a Joyetech eGo starter kit (not the eGo-t) with Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers. I hope that you will stick with vaping and get off of the regular cigarettes. So far my dad is still using regular cigarettes but I really enjoy the smell of the tobacco juices. Also when you find a juice that you like the flavor of but still have cravings for regular cigarettes you may need to go to a higher nicotine amount. Have fun.
