So after weeks and weeks I finally figured it out. All the bad taste I've been having with my RM2 has been the atty. Today when I was putting my 7384582nd coil on and dry firing after completely cleaning everything, I noticed a smell. A smelly smell. The smell of doom that I've been tasting. Something is wrong with the atty. No ifs ands or buts. I fire it, and it smells like burning. Even dry. Completely clean. Guess I'll be buy I g a new one unless someone has a clue how to fix it. I completely tore apart the atty and cleaned everything. Put it back to perfection. Still terrible. Suggestions? Sorry about the rant.

Just a shot in the dark here but the only thing I could think of that may retain some kind of odor is the ceramic base. Is there a possibility that a cleaner or anything may have been adsorbed by the ceramic?

I would try soaking overnight or longer in some everclear or vodka to see if that helps or possibly a good bath in an ultrasonic cleaner if you have access to one

+1 I use everclear on mine and it works great. I have a Strawberry custard that lingers and a good soaking makes it like new again.

This is where I bought mine. Bought 15 ft. of 27ga for $11.00.

No more kanthal for me! Thanks for the link. Been using my current Rene coil for a little over a month now. I got a bunch from the Bee by way of mr mundy. It's a pain to work with but sooo worth it.
