HI. I cannot start a thread in the newbie forum anymore, so here is today's (dumb) question:

Many people advise filling cartos with a needle. What size is recommended? I tried this with my insulin needles (I know...) and the juice is too thick to come out of the needle. Size matters, I guess!

I use a Luer-loc 20 gauge sharp pointed needle. On Boge cartos you need the sharp point to get down the side of the packing without tearing it up. If you check at your local drug store you should be able to buy them and they will be fairly in expensive. Ask at the Pharmacy counter.

If you get larger gauge you will have trouble getting it down in the carto and if you get smaller gauge it will be to hard to get your juice drawn up into the needle.

Here is a link to a video that really tells you everything you need to know about carts and tanks. Also the proper technique for the condom fill method. Once you go into that website scroll down the page until you see the video about carto punches, carto, and tanks. It's a long video but it tells you everything you need to know.

I use a tank with all my cartos, and I don't even prime them. I just fill the tank and then take some puffs without pushing the fire button. Eventually I get a small taste of liquid and I know the carto is filled. If you don't use tanks, then of course you cannot do that. Bluesnake's advice would be the best if you are the impatient type and cannot sit there and slowly drip liquid into the carto or you don't want to use the condom method.
