Hi All

I have finally completed my first build...and as I hope you can see - it is a wooden bottom box feeder.

The case is hickory and the door and top are grain matched hickory heartwood. The firing button is also turned out of hickory to match. All the joinery in this one is mitered and the front door is held on by magnets...but it is also beveled to self center when applied.

Internally, it sports an 8ml juice bottle, a 10 amp switch and an led to let me know when it is firing. it uses a flat top or button top IMR battery. The atty is a modified A7 and was a gift from a very generous monkey friend here on ECF

I think future builds will be simpler with 90 degree square joinery... I also have to figure out a plan for a mechanical switch so I can shorten the whole mod.

Like I said, this is just the first build. I look forward to hearing any comments.

Thanks!
Geo

i dont know if you have plans to build these for sale or not but it's my opinion that the wooden box (specifically bottom feeding) is a very underserved, untapped market...i know redsky builds some but there are more people wanting them than there are people selling them

I have a Bogger box and love it...works great etc...i just probably wont buy from him again b/c of customer service issues

p.s. i think i'd get rid of the wooden fire button...as a buyer it would just look like it had high potential to break but other than that your creation looks great

hi eagle ta2 .
very nice . I like the beveled front to selv align . also like the wooden push botton .I have some of the same switches and was thinking of using them in a mod with no electronics , mine are 5 amps. I would ceep the wood botton but shorten it a little by moving the contact point on the lever to reduce the travel of the switch lever . have funn !!

I can't quite figure out your feed setup. Can you elaborate a bit on what you have going on there? Is the tube going to the atty connector readily replaceable? And what mod did you do to the bottle/cap on the other end?

Wondering too how you find the size of the squonk hole with use. Is it big enough or would you make it larger or a different shape on the 2.0 version?

My wish list: VV feeders. That's another big hole where we need more models. What do we have right now in the commercial market? Two?

Can't wait to see your next poke at this! :toast:

The feed system here is very simple. It is a single tube running from the Atty through the bottle cap and to the bottom of the bottle.

The squonk hole is 3/4" in diameter. Its a comfortable size for a wrap around finger squeeze...but as I begin to use and handle the mod more, I find myself thumb squounking more often than not. I believe the hole in version 2 will be 7/8”

Picked up the lumber for a couple more mods today. Next up is either purple heart, mahogany, or walnut burl...

Thanks
Geo
