I started some basic DIY some time ago. Just some basic, one-flavor tobaccos.
  • TFA tobacco blend
  • TFA DK tobacco
  • TFA ry4
  • FA 7 leaves ultimate
  • FA camtel ultimate
tobacco blend is ok, a very plain, generic tobacco flavor. No thrill, but the most like just plain generic tobacco.

DK tobacco is my favorite so far. It's the one I tend to run out of.

7 Leaves is pleasant enough every once in a while. But, that's about it.

I don't like the RY4. It's vapeable, but not by much.

Camtel Ultimate is horrible.

I've been mixing at about 3%. So, now I've decided to take my mixes and try a lighter version. I hope it helps the Camtel especially. It's unusable as it is. At the same time, I finally put a couple of drops of each of my other flavors in it's own little bottle of 2ml unflavored to see what they each taste like by themselves before I try mixing them in combination.

Thy are:
  • FA coffee espresso
  • FA custard
  • TFA menthol
  • TFA caramel cappuccino
  • TFA banana creme
  • TFA caramel
  • TFA vanilla bean ice cream
  • TFA wintergreen
  • TFA tiramisu
I've put this off (eventhough I've had the flavorings for a long time) for 2 reasons. One, I'm very indecisive. Two, tasting really bad e-juice is SO unpleasant, dare I say TRAUMATIC?

But, I'm getting really desperate for some good juice! I'm broke and sick of only a few boring tobacco flavors. I tasted SI's 555 a few days ago and fell in love. So, that's one new juice (which I can't afford). But, I want some yummy stuff, like Caramel Macchiato and Apple Pie and other good stuff, especially coffee flavors though.

I made one little 2ml sample bottle of each flavor to try to start with.

Today, I did my first taste test. So far, only Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Coffee Espresso. The Vanilla Bean Ice Cream tastes a little perfumey. But, the Coffee Espresso is pretty good. Right now, I'm trying the 2 of them mixed together. The Vanilla Bean Ice Cream doesn't seem too perfuney once mixed with the Coffee Espresso. Seems promising.

But, I don't think I made them strong enough. The strongest flavor I taste is the unflavored juice.

I've been vaping my DIY unflavored juice for a while because I needed something with as little smell as possible to stealth vape in the bathroom at work. So, I've gotten to know that flavor well. It's just PG and VG with nicotine. It's actually quite good.

I would welcome any suggestions on my journey.

Has anyone tried Camtel? I've never heard anyone mention it off hand. I wonder if there's any saving it. Luckily I only bought one little tiny bottle of that one!

Hey Dancing, how are you?

If you are stealth vaping something 'bakery' or candy or coffee type vapes, how will anyone who happens to smell it, know it's from vaping? Just keep some candies in your bag.... Just in case :).

I made a DIY juice called Bishy's Peppermint Ice Cream, the recipe here in the DIY section. You already 2 of the ingredients, the VBIC and Banana Creme. Maybe I can decant a small amount of the other flavors and post to you?

I use the FA Coffee Espresso. I use it in carto tanks so mix it at 8%. I use 1 drop of non alcoholic liquid Stevia per 2ml of total mls in the bottle to sweeten up. So if I make 30mls total I put in 15 drops of the Stevia. This is an everyday vape for me.

I have a recipe for the FA Tiramisu from an expert DIY'er friend. 5% FA Tiramisu, 5% yellowcake, 3% Sweet Cream and 6% whipped cream. I have not yet made this so I don't know if it needs any sweetener, I still have some commercially made.

Today I decided to try some choc in a vape, had a bottle of Capellas Chocolate Fudge Brownie. Mixed it at 15% and added 5% Whipped Cream and 2% Ethyl Maltol to sweeten a touch. This is to die for if you like brownies. You could probably use Vanilla Bean Ice Cream in this as well rather than the Whipped Cream.

I find I can use much less FA than Capellas or TFA or LorAnns. It's much more concentrated.
Capellas I use at 15% the lowest. When I'm using TFA or LorAnns I jack up the flavoring a lot.... some of it to 25 or 30% total.

I'm making a fair amount of single or dual flavor juices with Capella and FA.

Coffee flavors they already know I vape. Since minty flavors seem like a good stealth vape, I've tried several. So far, peppermint is the only one I like. So, I may take a look at that recipe.

Don't worry about sending me any. I'm really enjoying this and will definitely be ordering more soon. I just have to be selective until I have more money!

Is it better to use the Stevia instead of just using a sweet flavor like Vanilla Bean Ice Cream?

All of your recipes sound really good. I'm getting really excited about this! Yum!!!

It's hard to know which to buy. There are so many options. Luckily I found this section and discovered the well hidden Flavor Reviews section! But, I definitely need to take some notes to help me keep all the info in my head and sort it all out.

. . . . of all the 50 odd flavorings I have . . . .
I think I'll have caught up to you by Christmas. This is wonderful!!! Much less traumatic than some of the c**p I've been trying that was pre-made. Of course, that's only because I'm keeping it very simple and safe - so far. I'm sure I'll get more adventurous and be traumatized at some point.

I like Stevia if the flavor doesn't need smoothing or Ethyl Maltol for a little smoothing and sweetness. I use far more Stevia for this purpose. It's easy to use and doesn't alter the flavor as using another flavoring would. It just makes stuff sweeter or smoother and sweeter. I buy liquid Stevia in dark brown glass bottles and it comes with a glass dropper.

I came to Capellas and Flavour Art late and well after my DIY'ing friends had all given me nudges in the LorAnns and TFA direction. I find both Capella and FA to work very very well in single flavor or double flavor mixes. They are simple and don't need a lot of exotic knowledge to mix. I don't find them to have dyes or food coloring in them as there is in some LorAnns. I don't want to vape food coloring or dyes. After 55 yrs of smoking my lungs can use a break and I don't know what's in that stuff. Eating is not vaping.

I'm what would be called a 'plain cook' if you were talking about cooking ability. I don't have a lot of 'intuition' about cooking but if I have a recipe I can make it. Julia Child I'm not. Same with DIY, except that with the yummy Capella flavors I do better and knowing that FA is so concentrated I have a place to start. I will probably use up the LorAnns I have in recipes I've been given and not branch out there. The TFA I have more flavors and I will use those to supplement the Capellas and the FA and use them 'with'.

Another two flavor Capella mix I'm working with is Pralines & Cream and New York Cheesecake. I made the initial test batch at 10% each flavor in base, it's maybe a little heavy I will make the next one with a bit less cheesecake probably to see if that's what I taste too much of. Of all the Cheesecakes I have I like this one best and will probably also mix it with Pineapple or Raspberry or Sweet Strawberry down the road a ways. Maybe even with some Lemon Sicily from FA. Maybe some alone :)

I use 4mg nic so I don't know how much higher amounts of nic may affect the taste of these, and I mix at 50/50, so YMMV.

I'm still in woohoo!! mode that I found these two and they are so easy to make tasty vapable juice from with my limited intuition ability. Some people just seem born to DIY. I have to work at it with complicated stuff, but this is easy and has restored a lot of my damaged self esteem when it comes to DIY. I made some really awful stuff in the beginning.

You've got a lot of good flavors to play around with there. If you think the tobacco is boring, use it as a base and add some banana creme (banana tobacco is one of my favorites), or some caramel, or even both (or caramel banana on its own). Add some caramel and VBIC to the coffee for your own caramel macchiato. Mix each of your flavors separately to see what they will taste like and just get creative with your combinations. It took me a while to find a tobacco I really liked, so don't be surprised if you go through more than a few flavors before finding one that works for you. I love Desert Ship and I mix it with Cowboy a lot (both FA).

Actually for tobacco flavor lovers, Flavour Art is reputed to make some exceptional ones. You just have to use the right percentage of the flavor to the base.

I don't vape tobacco but I know some DIY'ers who do and swear by the Flavour Art tobacco flavorings.

As with everything else not everyone likes the same things. Flavoring and finished juices are very subjective items.

The OP listed 3 flavors by TFA and 2 by FA. I'm assuming FA is Flavour Art.

I actually don't mind Camtel once it steeps for a couple months! LOL It mellows. The one I can hardly take is Virginia, still tastes like grass/hay. Also Perque Black is not a fav. I do use tobaccos as a base and add whatever you want, chocolate or coffee or fruits. I have some peach tobacco that is wonderful. I also just made some Pirate Ship, what I call it, it is equal parts American tobacco, Couramin Pipe tobacco and Buttered Rum, add sweetener to taste. I also love Tiramisu, either by itself or with tobacco and with brownies or chocolate, yum :) bnrk

Thanks for the heads up on the nasty FA tobaccos.
I don't think she meant it was nasty, just that she can use much less of the FA than the others because it's much more concentrated. Which is good (saves money)! Just don't forget to be a little more careful when mixing so you don't use too much!

Good to know about the Flavour Art tobacco flavors. And, yes, I did mean Flavour Art.

But, I do like Virginia. So, the Camtel may be a "no go" for me. At least, I did like Virginia last time I tried it, about 9 months ago. The way my tastes keep changing, you never know now. I'm afraid to stock up too much on anything because my tastes might change by the time I finish it! Mmmmmm, Tiramisu, love it!

The Caramel Macchiato is the first recipe I intend to get down. And, I think the Tobacco Blend is plain enough to use for other experiments.

Thanks for the info on Stevia and flavorings. That'll be a big help. I too am a 'plain cook'. I can follow recipes, but that's it.

Capella's New York Cheesecake sounds promising. The only cheesecake juice I've tried was very chemically and nauseatingly sweet.

I had much the same experience with FA Ultimate Camtel. I reminded me greatly of Grey Flannel cologne. I must say that I've been reluctant to try it again, because the first try was just awful. My poor dripping atty had to take a long, harsh bath after that.

I am, however, convinced that it does have some merit. I think that if it's weakened to 25% in order to make it easier to work with, it can be added in tiny amounts to add a bit of floral, smokey flavor to something that lacks those qualities. Of course, my impressions of it's taste may be different when I don't have it terribly strong, but I think I'll give it a shot this weekend sometime. I'll probably add a bit of it to some TFA Tobacco Blend (PG), which I find has a weak tobacco taste that's almost overpowered by Ethyl Maltol.

I'll probably experiment with TFA M-Type premium again, too. That stuff is terribly strong, so I think I'll make a small bottle of it at 25% strength, to make it easier to work with as well. I can barely take 1 drop of that in a 10ml batch. I'd like to try that with some EM or tobacco blend, as well.

I've got a new batch of flavors to try that I just got today. Of those, I'm looking forward to the TFA RY4 - Double. It smells much better than the old RY4 I bought from them, which promptly went down the drain, and made my drain smell bad for weeks...
