I've had my 5V 510 passthrough for a while now and always used my computer's USB port to power it (which I believe puts out 1A max).

Well, I finally realized that it really wasn't any more "intense" than my regular 510 batts. I mean, it was great not having to worry about batteries while near a USB port, but I kept reading about how everyone loves 5V, etc.

So I picked up a wall adapter that has 4 usb ports on it at Staples (on sale at my local one for $15). It said on the box the output was 2 amps total, depending on the number of ports in use.

Well, I plug my USB passthrough into it and nothing else, so it gets the full 2 amps and... WOW!

Seriously, if anyone else has a 5V passthrough and is using it with their computer USB port like I was, do yourself a favor and get an adapter that will put out 2 amps. It's worth it.

The difference in vapor production and TH is incredible! Flavor may be a bit diminished, but wow! Now I know what everyone is talking about!

Now the only problem is I still have to deal with the wimpy 510 batts while I'm driving or out walking around.

A couple of points:

You can get a 5V 2A USB adapter for your car's cigarette lighter from madvapes.com, among other places.

A lot of people report having good luck using a Kensington power supply for on the go PT use. A quick search should turn something up, I'm posting this with my phone.

There are 2 types of PT, the ones with the in-line battery spliced into the power cord get their power from that battery, and the USB power source does nothing but recharge that battery. Those batteries are NOT meant to be recharged at 2 Amps. I don't think they will last very long if you do.

The wall-wart for the iPhone puts out 5V @ 1A. It's barely enough to operate some attys (worked for me) but I've heard that many attys won't even work with it.
