Yes, after a solid year of moaning, complaining and hissy fits of jealousy I finally have my Reo!

The only reason I have my Reo is because of a wonderful member here I did a trade with- I use the word trade loosely- it was such an unequal trade it was more like a gift from a very kind person that knew I really wanted one.

I will post pictures of my beautiful black "Chaseman" reo when I get my desk cleaned and get this baby working!

Now for a couple of questions-

Loaded it up and did the squonk and it leaked. All over. After reading and looking at pictures, my juice bottle doesn't appear to have the 'o' ring so I sent for and received the new cap with 'o' ring and tubing today.

The tubing on the reo currently is narrower than the one in the mail and apparently narrower than the hole- probably why it leaked I guess. I was hoping I could just use the new top with the 'o' ring and not deal with the tube but it looks like the tube is narrow so I guess I should change it, but I'm sort of afraid to do that. Is it going to be very difficult to change the tubing?

Well, it's about time - congrats! ;-)

The tubing is pretty easy to change - when Rob installs the tubing, he puts a little drop of super glue on the fitting that it slides over, so you may have to slit the old one with a small knife to get it off. When I replaced mine, I didn't use any glue, and it has stayed put. Once the new tube is in place, just trim it to length - you'll want it to not quite touch the bottom of the bottle.

Hope you're up and running in no time!

*edit* - You'll also want to note that you can't fit quite as much juice in the bottle with the thicker tubing. Don't ask me how I know this.

Thanks everyone!

WELCOME TO THE REO sub-forum

Glad you finally decided to visit and make a thread. Hopefully someone has a better answer for you. I'm sure Rob will chime in eventually as well. The only way that I know how is kind of a PITA.

Well, I thought I bugged you enough!

You could just take the O-ring out of the new cap and put it in the old one.

The tubing outside diameter is different, but the inside is the same on both styles.

If you choose to change the tubing:
You need to take out the screw in the delrin part. Be careful it must line up with the back to tighten when putting it back together.

Remove the old tubing. As stated before you might have to cut it some.

It works best to put some lube on the tubing before sliding it on. Some juice, or vg/pg will work. Just take your time and work it all the way up.

It just takes a little patience but can be done.

Hi Swedishfish! :) Welcome!
Nah....it's not hard. Putting the thinner tubing back on can be a challenge because its so....uh....*looking for another word for limp*....wet noodle-ish. But the new thicker stuff is much easier to deal with.

Just carefully pull straight down on the tubing...it will stretch a bit, but it should give way fairly easily. When you're ready to put the new one on, just use your ejuice or some base like VG or PG and drop some in the end of the tube then slide it on the nipple. Easy. You can use a dot of super glue if you want to secure it, but it should stay on just fine. Keep us posted! :)

PS...you don't really have to remove the black plastic insert. In fact, it is not recommended to remove the insert. It can be a bear to put back in.

One other quick thought - if there was nothing wrong with the old tube and cap, other than the o-ring being missing, you can pop the o-ring out of the new cap and put it in the old one. Just get it started in the threads with a paper clip, and when you screw the bottle on, it will seat the o-ring.

Rob switched to a thicker wall tubing for better durability. Just discard the old tubing and old cap and use what Rob sent ya. It's a bit tricky to slide onto the metal nipple, but it will slip on and fit rather snugly. I never use super glue and it's never come loose and I tug on it all the time while sliding my cap up and down the tubing. I also remove the black delrin cover when I replace the tubing, but be very careful when reinstalling it so that you don't strip the threads that hold the screw that holds the delrin cover in place.

Enjoy that Reo. :)

Well, good news and sort of bad news. I was able to remove the tube. I tried to cut the top of the new tube to make it straight, and I think I cut it too short. I'm going to have to keep the bottle full. I should have waited until I was wide awake.

Sorry to hear about that. The tube doesn't always have to go all the way to the bottom of the bottle. Both of my 18490's tubes are about a mm away from the bottom. All the juice in the bottle still gets used except for a drop or two. Which isn't a big deal to me at least.

Wish I had an extra feeding tube, would've sent it to you. You can still use it until you get a replacement. Which I hope isn't going to take you to long. Have you pm's Rob or bought another tube assembly yet?

Anyways, that must've been something else. Remember when I was a kid my mom used to use one of those combs that had the razor in it. Not sure if you know what I'm talking about but, that was the most painful haircuts I got in my life. Ended up with the infamous bowl cut LMAO.

Hi, swedishfish, and welcome. Ha...sounds like you're off to a good start! Just think, you've gotten all the "trouble" over with and out of the way. Now it can just be pure enjoyment. As long as you can use your tube like it is for awhile, at least you can start enjoying your REO. Now that you're already an old pro at changing the tube, get another one from Rob and do it again (except for the cutting part.) At least you have it up and running. I'm betting you'll love it....I sure love mine. Good luck with it.

That's hilarious! I remember those! Actually, I'm from the "swedishfish camp" of having one-inch bangs for most of my growing up, but I do remember those combs with the razor blade in them. Hadn't thought of those for decades! Ha.
