Thanks so much to everyone on this forum who posted all the great information for people looking to get started vapeing, and quitting analogs. I've smoked for 15 years and tried everything, patches, cold turkey, cutting down, gum, and nothing worked for the simple reason: I WANT to smoke. Well now i can get the same satisfaction in a billion different flavors without destroying my lungs in the process. The first day i got my 510 i had 3 analogs, the second day i had none. Amazing.

I placed my first order for a 510 kit without any issues, and picked up 2 cartomizers also. I seem to like the atomizer/cartridge setup better but i have a few questions regarding the smaller details:
Vg juice doesnt seem to have a strong TH, but produces a good plume. Does PG juice usually provide better TH? Also the flavor of the Djarum black juice (VG) i got with the kit doesnt have a strong flavor, any opinions on VG vs PG flavor? perhaps this is a supplier issue?

Ive also covered up the intake holes between the battery and the atomizer with one of the plastic cartridge caps to reduce the force needed to switch on the auto battery when i draw. Does anyone know of any reason NOT to do this?

So many more questions but that will do for now.

Congrats on finding this better habit :) As you have found, there are differences in PG vs VG. While everyone has a different preference, here is what most have found: PG is thinner, produces less vapor and appears to give a stronger TH. VG is known to give much more vapor and a "fuller" feel, while sometimes the flavors are muted especially in freshly made liquid. Most who DiY will tell you that VG does't reduce flavor, it takes longer for the flavor to mix evenly. Given time to steep even 100% VG liquids will have plenty of flavor, but since most suppliers mix-to-order you will always be getting it fresh. Try letting that Djarum sit a few weeks if you like, shake it once in awhile, I guarantee it will be much stronger by then :) 100% VG DiYer myself but my preferences may not be yours!

As for the hardware I can't comment on so I'll leave that to someone else :) Good luck and remember we all quit at our own pace, and according to our own goals, there is no "failing".

Congrats Dr, it's a tough habit to say the least, and like you I wanted to smoke no desire to quit whatsoever, but wanted to try this and found I could see myself doing this. Took a lot of experimentation to find out my sweet spot, everyone is different, it's unlikely that there are 2 of us out there that have the exact same spot.

I started with a Blu, didn't work at all for me at least, moved on to the Joye eGo, then tried all the mods for it, finally ended up with a variable volt bottom feeder the Ali' and found my spot so to speak.

Also needless to say I played with VG and PG juices, also if you look through the forum there's tons of suppliers for juices. Don't be afraid try mixes to find your sweet zone. For me it's vapor production first followed by throat hit so I use a heavy VG blend, and compensate TH with a voltage increase, I like hitting about 4.8 volt with my favorite juice.

Generally speaking you'll get greater throat hit with PG but less vapor, you'll get better vapor with VG but a smaller throat hit. You can find vendors who will mix the juice for you, velvetvapor is comes to mind as one I used to test alot with, but there are others that actually let you choose a percentage, played with those too to find out what I liked.

Just understand this is really an adventure your on, your going to try ALOT of things to figure out what you like, just keep trying you'll figure it out over time :)

Once again congratulations and welcome to the forum!

Welcome and congratulations!!!! It's an incredible feeling and great journey. I didn't hear you mention drinking water ;)
Your correct VG is easier on the throat and produces huge amount of vapor. It also takes away some flavor. PG gives more TH and increases flavor but little vapor. I prefer a 80/20 PG/VG mix my self but see what works for you.

You will have to experiment with flavors IMHO pre filled carts are terrible. Fill your own.

Yikes I don't think Thats a good idea. Remember its a battery, when your covering up the holes it getting hotter and working harder. Bad combo. IMHO you need a stronger battery. That's what your trying to do essentially. I bet you don't want to hear it but eGo. You will get what your looking for. Good luck and I'm so happy for you!

Congrats Dr. Weasel, I might suggest checking out a couple of venders that have a great deal of flexibility on your liquids. Viking Vapor and ECblend. EC is new and I have only had one flavor from them (it was very good). I have had several from Viking and have loved all but one. Their flavor is spot on. But the reason I recommend them is for the throat hit. You can order light, full, or filterless throat hit, as well as any mix you like, extra flavor, etc. I usually order 100% pg at a higher nic level and cut it to 50/50 pv/vg mix. This works well in a cart or atty for me and has lots of vapor. Of course you may like 80/20 or 70/30 better.

Congratulations on your success with quitting. It's quite a feet. Anyways, as for your questions:

1. VG generally is lighter in TH like you have described but has more vapor production. PG has great TH but reduced vapor production. You might want to find a blend that suits you best. I like 70/30 since I like more TH and the vapor it produces is pretty nice. But you might wanna try 80/20, 60/40, or even 50/50. ALTHOUGH some 100% VG juices I've tried gives a very satisfying TH such as Gorilla Juice or Bobas Bounty from AVE

Nic level also determines the amount of TH you get. IMO, 24-36mg is the sweet spot for me as well as others that have smoked for a while. I still haven't dropped my nic lvl and I've been vaping full time for 4 mnths. I don't I ever will truthfully.

2. VG also has more flavor but, you might have gotten some juice that basically sucks. So, your right about the supplier. There are a HUGE amount of vendors to try. Buy some 3-10ml bottles to try out. I generally go for the 10ml since I need some time to properly access what I'm getting from it.

3. Only reason I can think of is that this will restrict the air flow and make it a bit tighter. I like my draws to be a bit on the airy side since a tight draw just annoys me. Honestly hate it.

Lastly, give these vendors a try since they are some of the most popular juice vendors on the ECF:

Welcome to Tasty Vapor

VaporBomb.com

Personal favorites (HIGHLY recommended)

Alien Visions E-Juice
DIY Flavor Shack by E-Cig Smoke Store

Hope that helps.
