+1 on RTD Vapor for batteries and charger.

The Provari accepts button-top IMR batteries only. Flat top batteries will NOT work in a Provari.

I recommend the brand that Provape recommends: AW IMR button-top batteries.

Pila, Xtar, and Nitecore Intellicharger are the most popular brand chargers. Get the best one that you can reasonably afford.

Why Provari?

Go with the vtc5 or the Samsung icr I think. Luc v4 chargers the best.

Don't go recommending batteries if you don't know the mod. The Provari accepts only button top batteries; the Sony vtc batteries are flat top batteries. ICR batteries will not work in a Provari either, only high-drain IMR batteries for a Provari.

No need to be condescending or insult my intelligence, just asked a simple question. And I know mAH is irrelevant, since the RTD has 2 AW style batteries and only AW is used on a Provari, I used the 3400 for better direction to which AW I was referring to.

Sorry for asking a dumb question, sure wont happen again!

Please accept my sincere appology. I did not mean to come across as condenscending or to insult your intelligence. In hindsight, figuring out the difference in batteries can be rather overwhelming to novices and experts alike. Sorry.

It's no excuse, but myself and a few others have been trying to explain the danger to a fool attempting to make a 0.09 ohm rebuildable coil in another thread, who is ignoring sound advice. Didn't mean to be snippy to you.

Accepted and thanks.....If there is one thing I do understand, it is Human Behavior and can understand the frustration in attempts to help someone understand helpful information....Only difference here is I just send them a bill, no need for me to get frustrated and say things I later will regret.....also a bottle of Gin soothes the savage beast too:lol:

I know this thread is old but it came up in my google search. I just ordered sony vtc4 button tops for my provari
got them from kidny puncher
I was told they will work and are better than the aw ones. I will have them sat
Actually, the Sony's will not work better for a Provari. The Provari was designed and built around the AW batteries, and the Provape website specifically states it recommends AW batteries over other brands. The tech engineers at Provape further emphasized this in a post in which I asked about battery information: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/provape/524874-question-tech-engineers-provape.html

That the Sony VTc4 has 30 amps over the 10 amps of the AW makes no difference to the Provari; the extra amps of the Sony are overkill and does not make it a superior battery in a regulated device like a Provari.

I can attest to the quality of genuine AW batteries. I'm finally beginning to wear out a couple of red lMR 18650 AW's I bought with my Provari about 2 1/2 years ago. I vaped them constantly in rotation for about two years and finally noticed that they were charging to 4.2v and immediately dropping to 3.9v on the first vape. Can't complain though. Over 2 years of daily vaping is all you can ask for from a pair of batteries.

I have two more AW 2000mah 18650's that are 6 months old and going strong. I also have a couple of black and silver Efest 2250mah lMR batts that work well and are close to the AW's in vaping time. My fairly new pair of purple 2500mah Efests also do a respectable job, but aren't quite up to the vaping time of a new AW in a Provari.

The one thing that makes AW batteries exceptional is the culling process AW uses. He buys batteries in bulk from Panasonic, runs them through exhaustive testing, and keeps the top performers. The rest get sold in bulk to various vendors. AW is the initials of the owner, Allen Wang.

Here's a thread from Candlepower Forums about the AW process.
AW Batteries?

Here's an extensive battery test that shows the results of a long list of 18650's from various manufacturers. Study it carefully to understand what the tests are revealing, especially the tests at the bottom where they show time to low voltage at various load factors.
