Yes the initial price has a sticker shock value, but when you figure that $1 of wick will last for months instead of days it's really not that expensive and the convenience for my lazy .... far out weighs the cost.
Nobody's lazier than me. I took the battery and bottle off and the Reo went in the dishwasher. That cleaning video Rob made is too much like hard work!

I LOVE that snap, crackle and pop! I get it with a brand new coil and a freshly charged battery, then it kind of dies down.
I don't know... I paid $5 for this stupid bag of cotton balls...I'm rewicking daily, so 1 cotton ball lasts about a week, maybe less... $5 for about 6 months of wicks....
If that stuff is as good as y'all say it is, then I think it may be cheaper than cotton. And less hassle. The only question now is...is it really good?
...while on the subject of Readyxwick...I would love to grab some of the 2mm...as some of you know, I'm Canadian, and XC116 can't be shipped to Canada, which is fine, I understand...if us Canadians got a hold of enough ceramic sleeving we would certainly take over America and make you all say "eh" instead of "huh", make you eat ketchup chips and watch hockey (I'll spare you the pain of Tim Horton's coffee, that'd be just cruel)...I have a US address (my cottage) to ship it to but I can't get past the fact that I don't have a US credit card (billing info)...if one of you could flip me 2' of 2mm I'll PP you the loot +time and trouble (or if you don't want the time/trouble $ let me know and I'll bf a couple rda's for ya)...pm me if you'll help a brother out.

Yeah, watched that one yesterday. It's great and helped with some other issues I was having, but it turns out that the tips above about squeezing the coil tighter and using a thinner wick were perfect solutions. Fireworks gone.

I asked in another thread how to build a coil that would give me that snap, crackle, POP. After reading thru this thread, I now know what to do, space out my coil and avoid certain mentioned juices and certain mentioned wicking material. So thanks, bander! 
The cotton to use, if you are going to use cotton, is CVS cotton balls, Koh Gen Do, Shiseido or Cellucotton (rayon). I have never seen Walgreen's mentioned, but have tried a lot of cotton, even the stuff from a chemist bottle, anything will work, but the 4 main types I just mentioned work a *lot* better than others. What is making you rewick every day, is the coil crusting, the wick turning dark, the wick getting burnt, or just losing flavor? I agree though that the most maintenance-free wick is probably the readyxwick. I use cellucotton myself.

Wick losing flavor and/or burning. I either over-squonk it or dry burn it to a crisp.
The Walgreen's cotton balls are organic, probably similar to the cvs stuff. They don't bother me much from a flavor perspective after the first couple of hits. My first couple if wicks were made from some cvs organic cotton a neighbor gave me, and it tasted the same.

Yeah, its easy to burn up cotton, probably best using readyxwick, you simply cannot burn it, same for silica. I get the impression that people prefer readyxwick over silica because it gives better overall performance. Everyone finds their favorite wick in due course, its great there are so many good choices.
Hm interesting. I use cotton yarn & 1 of my atties gets wicked about once a week while the other gets rewicked maybe once a month lol. I guess I'm lucky. Yea, dry hits do suck though. It just doesn't happen very often to me.
