I bought a bunch of batteries since I started and have no idea which ones are old or new.

Just now I was charging 2 18650s on a pila charger. Once they were green I unplugged and removed. One battery was nice and cold like normal, the other felt very warm. Not too hot to handle, but kinda like I took it out of the microwave after a quick zap, lol.

Time to toss it or am I being paranoid? I'm scared to stick it in my provari to test the charge.

How many times are we supposed to reuse our batteries? I may or may not have recharged this one dozens of time.

I don't know anything about the Pilla charger. I use a Trustfire-001. My batteries sometimes seem warm to the touch after charging but that has never bothered me. Even before using these for remotes I had rechargable AA batteries. They always came off the chargers warm.

Also, the ProVari has built in protection so if something is wrong with the battery then the ProVari should not operate.

From what I read average recharges should be 500-800 charges before they need to be replaced. Different people have different recommendations.

In the end use your own judgement. If you think it's time to toss them then do so.

I would not use the one that felt very warm. It is not normal for these batteries to get warm during charge. The issue is either with the battery or the charger. If you have a multimeter check the voltage of the battery that got hot. If it is reading over 4.2 volts the charger is very likely at fault and will need to be replaced. I would still consider that battery not worth the risk of trying to vape with. I consider it dangerous to use at over 4.2 volts. The voltage will slowly drop in a few hours if it is just left alone.

These batteries should be good for at least 300 charges. Even after that they will only develop lowered capacity, so will not last as long before another charge is required.
