I have a few spinners and the MVP 2. I recently bought my first rba, a simple IGO-W, but as I was told, I can't get everything out of it with the mvp2 like build a dual coil or sub ohm. I am not too interested in sub ohm'ing, but feel it's a waste to have the IGO-W and only using 1 coil.

So I'm on the fence on a 15W VV, something like a VAMO, sigelei ZMAX, or Smoktech Mini Zmax

OR

going the Mechanical route with something simple like the Sentinel M13, sigelei, or Smoktech Magneto

The mechanical prices are less, but after buying 1-2 Batt's and a charger it's about the same. The obvious advantage of a mechanical is you can sub ohm, but other than that, is it mostly personal preference?

With the VV's I can adjust the power like the MVP which is nice, and they have the display, so other than sub ohm'ing, is it mostly personal preference? What did most you guys (gals) do when you made your big step up?

Thanks.

My first device after cig-alikes was Innokin VV/VW v3. Great devices and still going strong over a year later. I keep my old ones in the Jeep and in my desk at work for backups now. My big jump was to mechs. Since I knew I was going to go with RBAs and RDAs, it just seemed right to go all rebuildable/component and unregulated. I like really stealthy devices and had my eye on the smallest device available (Microstick) that took an 18xxx battery, so it was an easy choice for me. Know your requirements the choice will be easy. For the record, I never sub-ohm and it wasn't even a consideration to me.

Good luck and let us know what you choose!

I can only say my experience. I had a mini provari when I started. I don't regret the original purchase, but I am not a fan of the 1 ohm cut off. A few weeks ago I bought a Smoketech Magneto. Don't regret it great quality for the price, but I don't use it that much. Recently, I bought a cloupor DNA 30. For me I am super happy with it. The extra wattage is giving me a much better vape. I may try other DNAs out in the future just for variety and feeding my nice vape things addiction. I don't know your price range. The new Vaporshark RDNA just came out and looks fun too. I am looking at a HANA DNA at a local vape shop for a later purchase. Anyway hope my ramblings were of use to you.

I started with mechs when I started in to rebuilding. I do use some of my rebuilds on my apv's with vv/vw as long as they are 1.2-3ohms but I wanted to venture into lower ohms and knew a mechanical could handle that. Get an ohm's reader, sony vtc 4's-5's, battery meter, kanthal wire 28-30g, fingernail clippers, scissors, tweezers, 16-18g needle tips or drill bits of varying sizes, cotton or silica wick, and a butane lighter. Some jewelers tools would work too if working with kanger style builds. Jeweler size philips and flat head screwdriver. I think I've covered most of it. Some of it you may have already. Oh, get some battery plastic box holders as well. You'll need a place to keep them and the boxes will keep them from rubbing against each other or other metal objects. I didn't want to keep getting more vv/vw mods since they all did pretty much the same thing, now a days you have those that go 30, 50, up to a 100 watts so there's that to consider. I don't know if they'll do ohms below 1.2 though. Someone with that knowledge will be along I'm sure. Good Luck!

Thanks all.

My price range is pretty low. I don't want to buy something top of line and not be happy, but I wish I could afford one of the DNA 30 or box mod's.

I am looking all together probably between $50-75, which so where I would be with the options I previously listed.

Another question, I will be using my IGO-W and will purchase a Kayfun clone (or similiar), but would the mechanical or VV work better for the 6-8 clearomizers I have now? PT2-3 w/ airflow adj, 30B & 30S, just to name a few.....would the mech work much better with those than my MVP2?

Is this in your range? This is the one I bought. I can't believe how much fun I got for the price.

Your protanks and kayfun clone would work on this. I am using a kayfun on mine right now. Once I started using kayfuns and RDAs I haven't really used my protanks. Hard to go backwards on my vape production and flavor. BTW the reason I mentioned the new RDNA vaporshark vs other vaporsharks is the ability to change out your own battery.

I went VV as it seemed more practical, I was vaping carts exclusively pretty much at higher ohms so thought a mech would be useless for me but bought a cloned (boooooo) Paps recently on a whim and it's...great, just great. Not too sure why I like it so much tbh, vv is way more useful for me, and probably the best thing to go for as you really get to see how juices/clearos/coil setups can change with voltage/wattage, but then get a mech as well. They're boss. Big, shiny, and there's something mightily satisfying about pushing that firing button with your little finger. Every home should have one.

I am not a veteran by any means. But after doing research and what rip was talking about I decided to get a magma rda clone. Sounds like you can get great performance running a single coil on a regulated device. Just like the OP I have very little interest in sub ohming and really liked the fact that this dripper works great without having to sub ohm.

You can get a DNA 30 clone for $60-70, off retailers and e-bay.

I really like this mod. It stretches my price range....$70 + battery, charger, and shipping I am around $100, but with this it has more than enough power for any dual coil on a RBA or RDA, and it also says it can be vaped at .5 ohm.

Looks like the best of both worlds. This is one of the cheapest 30 watt mod I have seen. So you are very happy with yours, and it should fit everything I am trying to do, no?

As long as you aren't trying to cloud chase with some ......edly low .01Ω pipe bo... erm... atomizer (Please no lawsuits ;) ) then yes :D

I would definately go with something regulated, the Cloupor DNA 30 clone box mods are nice and don't break the bank.

PS: Just because you buy an RDA doesn't mean you have to Sub-Ohm. No, it's not wasted, just build a 1.0 ohm single coil and vape.

That is exactly what I did. I bought the IGO-W, the shop built, and then I build a coil bc I was not happy with it. They were both around 1.3-1.5 ohm, single coil.
And I have to admit, I was not happy at all. Even when I tried it in the shop, it did not have the flavor or the hit that I was expecting. The clouds are smaller than most of my clearo's, and the flavor is no better either. I looked for help on the forum, but to no avail. So I'm hoping with the new device I buy it is better, and if not Ill try another RDA or RBA. Maybe kayfun clone or RSST I have been looking at

Sounds like your coils aren't getting enough power honestly, this should never be the case :p I can build a 1.5Ω dual coil and fire it at 15 watts on my vamo... Not the best vape in the world but it blows any clearo out of the water in terms of flavor and vapor. Make that a 1.5Ω single coil and it's even better. I really don't like dual coils under 20 watts =/
