I watched, lol. Local vape shop more than willing to help me out to get this going. I asked lots of questions, and we went thru a few coils...so far this one is working, but the ohms are jumping from 2.1 to 3.7 and higher. 30g-400 mesh.. 5/6 wraps. gotta start somewhere. Have this on my VAMO. Last screw wouldn't thread, so I'm guessing wick needs to be in other hole? And it's airy, lots of vapor though. Didn't want too tight draw and air hole was drilled a bit bigger. I need more wick and wire. Wanted to see if I liked it enough to get more supplies. I think I do.

Re-tighten your positive and negative contacts, one of them is loose.

After playing with this all day, and still getting jumping ohms all over, the coil snapped. So ready to clean it and one of the washers wouldn't unscrew. Worked on it for 2 hours (making dinner), thought for sure it all was a goner. But all cleaned up, and I found an insulator in 2 pieces from the top. okay, there is an extra in the goodie bag. Was considering recoiling, but I'm tired and sure it wouldn't come out.
Going to give it a rest tonight and will try again, maybe tomorrow. I'm going to try silica wick too, order should be in this week.
Tired, but not ready to give up.

Yea your wick should be in the hole facing the camera, and the negative would be the screw on the left of your picture. Not sure if it will help with the functionality of the coil, but atleast the fill hole will be directly across from the wick so it won't leak when tilting.

Took time out this evening at get a wick going. First coil oops. When they pop, they pop! I tried 30g, 4/5 wraps and staying steady at 2.0 ohms, no jumping ohms! And dang it, I'll like it. I worked patiently to get it right, fiddle here and there. And that's okay, it's a learning process. Only drawback for me, my air hole got drilled and it's too airy. Is there a way to plug that up without using my finger? My next attempt, getting better at this and trying silica coil. Liking this on my vamo, but waiting for my Sigelei #19, which now is delayed till 1st or 2nd week of May. I'll wait, the price just just to good to pass by.

You are a very adventurous character, barely succeeding with SS and then moving right on to silica.

You can stuff some mesh, or anything else on that order into your drip tip to restrict the air flow.

By the way, a 4/5 wrap with 30ga generally works out to around 1.3 - 1.6 ohms depending on the thickness of your wick (Your pic indicates a 3/4 wrap). Something may still be loose, not getting good electrical contact.

Thanks for pointing that out HelloWorld...my mistake, that is a 3/4 wrap. So still should be lower ohms?...will keep working on it.
Don't know why, I thought silica wick would be easier to work with. Will keep at the mesh for a while till I figure this out, not liking something is still loose. Still get lots of vapor, but not tasting what I know should be there. Practice, practice, practice.

Should be at about 1.1 to 1.4 ohms for 30ga kanthal.

If you are getting 2.0 ohms on 3/4 wrap with 30ga kanthal ... YES, most certainly there is something wrong. I'm reasonably sure it's an electrical contact issue someplace.

If you have a multimeter, measure the resistance between the pos. center post and the neg. connection screw. Does it read around 2.0 ohms also?

If it doesn't, clean the 510 connection both at the bottom of your RBA as well as on your mod, then check the resistance with your electronic mod again.
