So after about 11 failed attempts I have my first usable build! I used 28 gauge with 7 wraps on a single coil build. I'm at 1.0 ohms. It feels great but after 2 solid pulls I'm having to drop juice cause it's almost bone dry. How can I improve this? Also vaping on an ipv Mini and trying multiple watts. Started at 25 watts and throwing clouds.

Are your tails getting bone dry as well, or is it just around the coil? I might suggest messing around with some youtube vids and try some other wicking setups and densities. A while back when I started with RDA's I found the same thing but my wick was the issue, the material was too dense and was being choked at the coil, causing some dry hits when it shouldn't be.

Cotton - Barely snug in the coil
Rayon - Can be slightly tighter as the material doesn't expand.
Japanese Cotton - Barely snug as well

Coil looks good, the wicks are, IMHO what easily make or break a build :)

Gotta be the cotton. I am using organic cotton and the ends are not dry, primarily just around the cool itself. How much should I cut off the ends? Like right at the end of the atty or a little more length?

If the ends are still soaked but the coil is wet, I'm willing to bet it's being choked slightly at the coil itself, you may want to try a little less cotton on a new wick. Cotton, either organic or Japanese, expands. So when your'e sliding it into the coil it shouldn't be ridiculously loose, and it shouldn't cause your mod to move either - to be honest it's a bit tricky to get used to however once you get 2 or more wicks right, it starts becoming very easy and extremely rewarding. If you get the density right inside the coil, even if your tail is too long, it will still wick it correctly.

What neo said. Less is more with cotton. Rayon is very forgiving and my personal fave...and elf wick (hemp- well....meh) use 1/3 to 1/2 as you would cotton and frustrate the hell out of yourself at the frequency of refills. Lol.

Both video's below are excellent examples of how to perfectly get the wick installed,
But both methods sitting opposite sides of the fence.
Or as mentioned you could get some rayon and wick it tight so that it squeeks when you pull it through the coil.

watch SuperX's video here, for wicking normal temp coils with cotton pad's>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfOEoLumeR0

Or for the hotter build around the 0.2ohm and below, yosh vapergate's vid with cotton balls is also perfect>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1hqRp9TDDE

Nice video. That cotton ball one is exactly how I wick my rayon into dark horse. Just a bit more material.
