So after running a couple tanks through my ego (I think) clearo, I started to have some funky vapes. So, being a little afraid of ruining my only vaping appliance, I took it apart, cleaned it with water and did a couple of dry burns (2 seconds each). After putting it back together my vapes tasted better than when it was new!
Do you guys think these coils come with any oil or funk on them from the factory? After all, they're made in china (I think). Anyone here do a dry burn on their coils before they ever vape with 'em?
Thanks.

Although I use the Vivi I always clean new heads and tanks::
test the ohms of the head
wash the entire tank, stem, drip tip, end caps and head
pat dry with paper towel/ shake to remove excess water
install head and drip 1 drop juice on the coil
Fill tank, swirl/ tilt a bit and vape.

Well welcome , but sometimes , new devices , do come with some break-in / test juice on them . So cleaning and the dry burn was the right thing to do . But you need to have several spares available . Just one is not going to do it . Also need spare batteries , juice , etc . Don't get caught , with your pants down , so to speak . When I leave town on a trip , I carry around 12 bottles of assort. juice , extra batteries , for all the devices I take ( usually , at least 6 or more ) extra battery chargers and cords , etc . I have never been caught , without . I may be a bit overboard on this , but again , never done without , either .

That makes sense renzuli. I've got a bunch of gear on order but I was very frugal buying my first set up. I bought it from a kiosk at the local mall and their prices were double what you can find online, so I kept it to a minimum. I have a vamo, two clearos, one carto and one atty in the mail, as well as six or so different juices. I've been off smokes for four days and, with my vaping, have had no urge to smoke. So I don't mind investing some $ in to this.
I shall do a good cleaning on all my equipment before putting in to use though, lesson learned.

It depends on the model, but what I did was remove the clearo from the battery, unscrew the drip tip and then unscrew the coil head from the metal tube insid the tank. Remove the rubber gasket (a rubber tube that keeps the juice fron pouring in to the air tube) from the coil head and Clean everything with warm water and dry it well. At this point I put the coil head back in and attached the tank to the batt with out the drip tip or the rubber. Fire the coil for two sec. a couple of times to burn off the gunk that can accumulate on the coil, rense and dry the coil again and re-assemble the clearo. Fill with juice and enjoy your fresh tasting vape!
At least that's how I did it. I'm sure there's something I missed but it really improved my vape.

lots of devices come with 'crap' on the coil.
drop one drop of juice right on the coil of your new device
then dry burn it till the coil burns reds
short bursts only

i know how to clean and rewick a clearo, but how about carto? how to dismantle it?

you don't, you boil it (never works perfect again) try youtubing it, PBasardo has a great video on it
