Thanks everyone for all the post's I smoke 11mg of Nicotine because I smoked ultra light and I tried 18mg and it was very harsh for me personally. The first day wasn't as bad as I thought. I did notice though I vaped a lot more and still am. I smoked less then a pack a day of analog cigarettes, I made a point not to take smoke breaks at work 5 years ago when I got my job that I currently have. I think I cheated a few times. I was making 5 packs last me a whole week before. It took me over a month and a half after starting to vape to get rid of my analogs. I am about to go out to the e cig store now and get a better tank. I am tired of the disposalable ones that only last maybe a month. I have 3 flavors I like. So far so good. Doing a lot of crosswords and croqueting e cig holders now that I figured out a way to do it. So far so good. Keeping hands busy and vapeing in between stiches LOL!

Thanks Again Everyone!

Way to go Mushroomie.....I'm in the same boat, been vaping for around two months and yesterday and today are my first analog free days!!! I know years ago when I quit I did keep a pack around just so I knew they were there in case. So even now I have a half a pack this way I won't freak out because I don't have any available. I know for some it would be just a temptation but I didn't find that to be so for me when I quit before. Everyone is different and things work for one that won't for another. The last two months I've been smoking between 2-4 cigs a day. First was the equipment issue (Blu) then having been a 2-3 PAD Pall Mall straight smoker I had a hard time finding the right flavor that I liked. For me the tobacco flavors were terrible, now have settle on Almond Amaretto and a heavy coffee flavor.

Good luck!

I actually was holding on to half a pack that was in the drawer of my tool box. 2 weeks into being a vaper, I pulled the pack out and walked inside the house. I showed them to my wife and tossed them into the trash. It awesome to not NEED them anymore. I love not having to fear running out anymore and the dreaded trip to the corner for a pack and knowing how bad they are for me. Now I make the trip to the vape shop. They helped me kick the habit, so I owe them a little business. I keep a good selection of juice and spare parts. If I feel frustrated, I just grab the kanthal and recoil my gear.

Way to go! Wall Pall Mall Straights. LOL That was the very first analog cig I smoked at 8 years old. (Stole one from my Grandma) I was higher then a kite in a church parking lot under a pine tree. I didn't get sick either. I never did that again. Until I was 13 had friends that smoked peer pressure kicked in and was hooked for 32 years. I have so many smoke shops around me I don't really worry about having that extra pack in the house. My lighters I am going to save for parties for my friends that smoke analogs which are many. I have a few friends right now that vape more that smoke analogs but I am going to try to change that when I am around them with this funky thing with a tank that blows smoke out of your mouth when you suck on it. LOL

Congrats on Day Two, Mushroomie!

I don't recall ever fearing anything as much as I did quitting analogs. It was all psychological, sure, but the fear actually contributed to delaying the inevitable by years. It wasn't until I started seeing people vaping, (either in person, on TV or in a movie) that the thought of quitting really took hold. I must confess that I didn't do too much research other than to convince myself that even if e-cigs were bad for you, they couldn't be as destructive as analogs. Once I did that, it was off to the races.

After two years on e-cigs, I can't really remember any discomforts or urges to resume analogs. Like others here I went through the obligatory transition period, but in hindsight it was a painless process. I think it took me about two weeks to realize that those analogs in the garage were just an excuse to go to the garage, and that I was doing it out of habit, not need.

Like some others have stated, I too kept all of my lighters and have a drawer full of ashtrays. Lighters are useful for other things, and ashtrays have found an alternate calling as coin holders and such.

For the heck of it, I glanced at a carton of analogs in the supermarket the other day and noticed that it cost $50.00. Back in the day, our combined (wife and I) smoking habit went through 3 or 4 cartons a month. Our vaping costs today (cartomizers, batteries, juices) don't approach the $200/mo figure we were spending back then. I had to hit my computer keyboard a lot, but I eventually found what I needed and at a decent price.

Anyway, heartfelt congratulations. This is one decision you will never regret.

Well day 4 I think without an analog cig. WarHawk you got it on the money I am having issues with not wanting one of those stinky things. I am also having problems with a tank I bought on Monday. It just died last night. I am going back to the place I bought it and hopefully I can get a better tank with them giving me half off. We will have to see. I am going to bring the hubby with too. So he can back me up. This tank is crap. Even the top cap is stripped so if it did work I might have juice leaking out of it. Having this issue made me want to run down to the store and get a pack. But I didn't called hubby said just wait we will go to the store after he gets off work together and hopefully get it worked out. All this and I woke up this morning with a migraine. As I vape and vape and vape.......

I keep an empty pack in my drawer. I don't miss analogs. I am not sad the pack is empty. I am enjoying knowing that I can choose what to taste, smell, wear (not everything has to be washed before going out!) and breathe. Analogs had me, but I have vaping. I am not a slave to tobacco or the bazillion chemicals disguised as a "feel good" cure.

So tomorrow will be a full week now with out smoking analog cig butts! Today was a test for me. I was around people that smoked and I did cheat. I took one drag off of my girlfriends analog and guess what. It still tastes like crap! So the vap is doing its job! Yesterday was a hard day for me though. I really wanted a analog so what I did is I had some menthol juice that I got from a friend and vaped that. When I started analogs I started out smoking menthol it took the cravings away. Like someone said on this thread it's going to take a couple of weeks to get used to all this and right now they are right on the money. That's okay though. I am on this train till my stop comes (vaping without nicotine and maybe quitting vaping period) Either way this is a way for me to quit and I do know that the finish line will come soon. When I don't know I hope sooner then I think though. Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! I am in this for the long haul as people would say.

Peace,

Mushroomie

Yes...I have been vaping for a very short time..and it took a week or so to stop looking for my cigs..and just grabbing the eCig...

We have many zippos in the house...but..I now only use them to open the bottle of whiskey that my sig other tightens too tight :)

I have a .... load of Bics. I also have a .... load of candles also. Have to have something to light them still. I am going to keep them for parties and stuff too. Not all my friends vape so I can give some one who smokes analogs and usually loses their lighter cause they have had a few to many. LOL!

I have not had a cig in a couple months, nor do i really crave one (for more than a fleeting moment on occasion).
I am about to start carrying a lighter again though... I have used them for a quick flashlight sometimes. ie what direction does the usb plug go into the dark area behind the computer? or finding the light switch in a dark unfamiliar room.

It's really simple, Mushroomie;

1. If you vape the right juice (IE; throat hit and nicotine level), you won't have the urge for an analog.
2. If the liquid you're using calms your cravings, it's the right level of nicotine. If it doesn't, then it doesn't.
3. If you don't have analogs in the house, it's tough to cheat at home, and you'll have to do it in public.

It should make little or no outward difference to your mind if your vaping or smoking. If one doesn't feel like the other, then you need to make an adjustment. This may require a change in nicotine level, better equipment or both. Your commitment to this is paramount, but it won't help you if you handicap your attempt. Best of luck!

Congrats on Week 1.

Hi,

I have been a member here now for over a month or so. Well today is my first day without smoking an analog cigarette, I have been vaping for over a month and was smoking maybe at the most 3 a day. When I started this whole thing I had 4 packs left and they just raised the taxes so I was going to finish them and I did. I am such a creature of habit I grab my lighter and want to light my e cig. I didn't do this at all when I started. My mind is also saying you have no cigs you have no cigs. Kind of driving me nuts. I use 11mg of nicotine in my juice and I am still fine with that its just the fact that they are gone I guess that is bothering me. Anyone else have this problem??

Thanks for Reading!

I have 10 cartons of unsmoked cigs...and no desire to smoke any of them...I have stopped for about a month with the eCigs....and last night was my first to sleep through the night without waking up to cough......Upgrade your nicotine..I am at 24 mg since I smoked a chain daily for years...

I understand your fear of not having cigarettes..my first attempt of quitting was fine over the weekend, but as soon as I showed up for work on Monday...I felt trapped cause my 'choice' was gone..and at lunch time I raced to the store and bought a pack of cigs..that was about 30 years ago...now i have 10 cartons..and do not want one cig...but I have that choice...maybe you should buy a pack (AT THE HIGHER PRICE)..to keep...'JUST IN CASE'?

I am such a creature of habit I grab my lighter and want to light my e cig.

In Mexico, waiters in bars and restaurants always try to light your cigarette for you, in hopes of a better tip. Its a level of customer service rarely seen in the US anymore ...

I almost lost a perfectly good 510 battery when a waiter had his lighter on it before I could stop him ...

Its amazing that someone, somewhere, has not yet cooked a battery with a Bic. Or maybe they're not telling ...

I had 2 unopened packs when I took my first Vape. I saved them for weeks before I finally hit me, I won't be needing them anymore and I gave them away.
btw The person I gave them too is now a Vaper :)
