I used to DIY several years ago but it was time consuming for me (kids, 60hr work week, wife...) so I just bought pre made in stores or online.

Recently got the bug again (new regs), placed an order Saturday and got everything today. Just whipped up 3 10ml batches and a batch of pepper concentrate.

Made Virginia cured Brown sugar, commercial e cigarette Brown sugar (to compare) and Apple pie.

No point to this post besides wanting to tell somebody! Thanks for listening.

I've done relatively small batches of juice over the years using neutral low flavor pre-mixed juices as a base. This year I decided that to survive I needed to get into real DIY, so I ordered 100mg nic base and FA flavorings, 60ml empty bottles, and a couple of 30ml luer-lock syringes. I've got to decide on the rest of the graduated mixing beakers, pipettes, and assorted other things I need for starting DIY.

ETA: After Watching this video I've decided that scales are a must.

The FDA is pushing us into a new world of the unknown with all the suspicions they have sparked.

My take is that once all the dust clears it won't be as bad as we imagine it could be. DIY is still up for grabs. juice for personal use should be fine as long as we can get nic base. It's vendors who make and/or sell juice that are going to find staying in business to be really complicated.

Agreed! And it's only a matter of time before somebody mishandles nicotine and then the spotlight will be on that with a big "Told you so!"

Trump plans to save money by reducing the size of government through the shrinking and combining of monolithic departments in government. That's one of his processes for obtaining funds for other projects, like infrastructure maintenance and more money for the military. As much as I don't care for either candidate, I like his ideas better if he can do it without borrowing more and increasing debt.

We might get bridges and roads repaired and at the same time, LESS oversight from the FDA. Cut off the funding for ecig oversight and they will go away.

Just my opinion here - I thought I'd need/use graduated cylinders and several sizes of beakers when I started DIY in January. Had some new ones I'd already bought with my own personal money when I'd taught Science classes for years before I retired. So I thought, "Great, I'll just use them for my DIY."

As it turned out...I used them once or twice, and haven't needed to use them since! I just mix directly into the 30mL, 50mL, or 100mL bottles my DIY eliquids remain in for use. It's a lot easier to just do that, than to wash beakers or graduated cylinders when finished. It also saves an additional step in the mixing process (not having to transfer components into them first, and then again into the bottles). Measuring the PG, VG, Nic, and flavorings with syringes that have the blunt needle tips on them...makes it super efficient to just squirt each thing into the various size bottles I use!

Just something that could save you $ on supplies, that could possibly be spent for additional flavorings instead. I do use pipettes, but only when I do Bill's 100DT (100 drop taste test) when I'm making a tiny 3-4mL batch, and tweaking it, the first time making a new recipe. But other than syringes & the blunt needle tips...pipettes are it as far as measuring supplies I use.

Life long vapers will be mixing and rebuilding sooner or later. If you offered me all the coil heads and pre made liquids I wanted for free I wouldn't take them. I prefer to mix and rebuild.

Yep, the industry is bound to change, especially if the FDA has states convinced they need to chip in and squash parts of the supply chain.

The public needs to know that the FDA Deeming Regulations are more about saving the tobacco industry than squashing the vape industry. To save the former you have to restrict the latter (or tax them highly).

My impression is the public already knows this is about money, not health. But most of the public pays less taxes because of cigarette taxes. The average soccer mom would happily send us to early graves if it meant her little Johnny's teacher got a little more pay. The big losers if everybody stops smoking are tax supported groups.

The tobacco settlement is old news as far as most people perceive it. Now, it's just something obscure unless your school notifies parents how much money their school received from tobacco taxes last year.

If people support restrictions on vaping, they are in effect supporting higher tobacco sales. We all know that most quit smoking products have a dismal quit rate. Not so with vaping.

The message needs to reach the ears of the masses. Vaping is an effective way to stamp out smoking. But, but, but, we can't eradicate smoking! They pay the states over $100B a year and lots of that goes to schools!

After watching the video I embedded above I realized just how easy it is to mix using weight instead of measuring out everything and pouring it in. Taring the scale after each ingredient makes it really easy to weigh each ingredient as you pour and get it right.
