Just got my first RDA. Picked up a patriot from a local shop. I only have the original Istick so I had to make huge coils to get to run in dual with a final res of 1.4. Nice flavor. Big coils mean a lot of cotton so unfortunately I get to taste that too. I expected that though, I have tried 3mm coils in my kayfun as well and got the same t-shirt taste.

I would use a thinner wire so you don't have to build such large coils. Also try going with just one coil. You should not be tasting your cotton. Also try less cotton. This is a matter of learning what works for you. I am currently using 3 different set ups tonight. I have a single parallel coil in my plume veil. I have a dual vertical coil in a steam turbine. and a single microcoil in an Igo-L. They all work well albeit different. Play around with it.

I use 26 gauge kanthal a1 wire dual coils that are 3 1/2 - 4 wraps and I get .2 ohms, if I use 6 wraps I get .7 ohms

both give me good taste and vapor but obviously the .2 ohms is better, anyways try those

If you read the OP's post you wouldn't post irrelevant nonsense like this!

I definitely second the suggestions of trying less cotton, and experimenting with thinner gauge wire.
Thinner wire has higher resistance over the same length of thicker wire. Should give you more room to play, and needs less cotton to do the same job.

what the hell is a OP ? [edited]

Cotton taste seems to have gone away. I will def be trying out different setups as soon as possible. Currently limited to the isticks operating range and local shops kanthal assortment. I really like my kayfun with 2.5mm 1.6 ohm build on 28awg. I think two of those will be fantastic when I am able to purchase a device that will fire below 1 ohm.

OP is 'original post'. It's quite commonly used in forums and most people who have been around for a few days know it. If you go back and read the OP again you'll see that you missed the gist of it since an Istick does not run a 0.2 ohm build. This is also the new members sub-forum so suggesting a 0.2 ohm build for an Istick to someone who could be new to vaping and might not understand what that implies could send them in a direction that is not good for them.

Good ethics! No harm done here though. I'm a youtube pro! Seriously, been lurking for quite awhile. Just hadn't been too captivated by vaping until the technology moved up and prices moved down. Burning up some posts to get the cred needed to join conversations on devices I'm interested in.

Not interested in ohming as low as I can go. Unless I can power a subwoofer whilst vaping. I'm getting ready (preparing the wife) for an investment into dna 40 or 350j device.

I don't do anything without a risk analysis these days.

Once you're using a regulated device you don't need to use dual coil which will make your ohms go lower, you can just stick to single coil and experiment with different gauges instead.

I'm not following... even with the initial clean cotton taste and restricted airflow of the patriot I still get better vapor and throat hit than with any single I've tried.

I was referring to your repetition of the istick limitations.
You may not be able to use very low ohms on the istick, but you can raise the voltage instead.

Yeah, I did that. Could never run a kayfun over 4.5 or 13 watts consistently. At 5.2 and 20 watts now

    Question:
Why would you WANT to run your kayFun over 4.5 or 13 watts?!?

It isn't a contest to see who can run a topper at the highest wattage! I run my kayFun at 8 watts (where it tastes BEST for me)
(that's only 3.16v at 2.5 amps with my 1.25 ohm coil)
