Ok, so I finally felt like I've read enough about rda's and rba's and after months of research on these forums (and great educational info here on ECF) and hundreds of hours of YouTube videos re. Battery safety, ohm calculations etc., I decided to take the plunge and bought my first mechanical, a kayfun, some organic cotton, 28 gauge kenthal and an ohm meter.

And to my surprise, my very first build ever was successful! Coil came out to 1.4 resistance with cotton on a brand new kayfun. And HOLY MACRO, this tastes soooooo good, I wish I hadn't waited this long. I'm in vaping heaven right now - thanks to all of you guys!! I could have never done this without you guys and ECF - period.

I can't wait to build my next coil. For the first time since I started vaping exactly one year ago, I feel like I'm getting better vapor and taste than - until today - I still only got from analogs. This is pretty significant for me, and while I already cut my analogs by over half of what I used to smoke in the last year, this might be the final step towards quitting the stinkies all together AND get something way better tasting and much healthier in return.

Omg, I'm so excited!!

Cheers,
Peter

That's awesome. I'm not surprised your first coil turned out well - you did your research and chose an appropriate coil for your device and skill level. I run 1.5 ohm, 28 guage coils on my Kayfun and they're right in the sweet spot for it. Congrats on the next step in your vaping journey and enjoy it!

What's most amazing to me right now, the taste and delivery seams so different, so delicious, I feel absolutely no need for an analog - this is a first for me since I started vaping!!!!

Until today, I used vaping to bridge the time until I knew I would be able to smoke an analog again, and while I've been pretty successful not using analogs for up to 8-10 hours, this feels completely different. For the first time I can say this tastes soo much better than an analog! Until today, it was the other way around.

Cheers,
Pete

And the more you build the more you'll be able to dial it in to your exact liking. I agree 100% with you when you say it's very delicious. I prefer a warmer more dense vape and only a rebuild-able can get that done. I feel the warmer the vape the more that flavor just jumps out! and as for vape quality YIKES! i see what they mean by cloud chasing haha. Well keep on building great things and VAPE ON!

Good for you Peter! Sounds like you're well on your way. I still remember my first successful coil build and how great it was. The info I got from ECF was the key to that for me too :). Vape on.
