First dual coil build.... Any other first attempts and how did it work out?

I am having a blast with my first rda (Mutation x). The first couple builds I did single coils from 1.6 to 1.9 ohms. I wanted to try my hand at a dual coil and man, right when I thought it could not get any better. Using Coil Toy I was shooting for a .9 build using 28 gauge. The multimeter shows .9 and the Cloupor shows 1.0. Close enough! Thanks to this forum for all the great information....

A couple take aways from being new at building.

-Coil toy or Steam engine is a life saver! Both are really spot on and great to see different configurations to try.
-Lining up the coils on center post and adjusting your airflow on the coils are key (from my limited experience).
-The tricky part for me isn't the coil build but determining the amount of wick (cotton in my case) and how tight it is in the coil. These both make a huge difference and I am not consistent at this yet. I guess practice makes perfect!

Based on my above experience I though it would be cool if other new builders share their experience and lessons learned on what is working or they need help with.

Of course, include pics if possible :)

-Dual coil with 28 awg: 10 wraps around a 2.3mm drill bit
- .9 ohms running at 27 watts/5.2 volts (Cloupor DNA 30 clone)
-High Caliber 'Blue Raspberry' .6% nic 50/50 blend = TASTY!

Yap, I used Steam engine last night to wind some .8 coils for my Fogger. By the time I was done I had steam engine open, I had Wiki`s page on American wire gauges open, and another wiki page opened up to American drill bit sizes. LOL. I nailed it at .84 ohm.

This thing hits like a dripper, sounds like a top fuel dragster, and I cant take more then one good hit, it`ll kill me.:?)

I am one happy camper. :?)

Very cool VHR! Glad it all worked out!

My first RBA was the Piculisci by Scientist and holy crap was it a nightmare to rebuild. Trying to build a coil on that thing was like trying to thread a needle with your toes. Not to mention that the posts didn't have screws, but rather these incredibly small pins which had to be fit into an equally small tube to anchor the coil leads. I would get so frustrated with that damn thing. One good thing came out of it though...after building on the Piculisci it was so easy rebuilding on other RBA's after. I would never go back though. It's been sitting in a drawer for over a year now.

Similar experience to p7willm. Dual coil on a Legend clone which has a huge deck to work with. Took some time and blood donations poking myself with the 28g used. didn't look anything like yours. Came out to 0.8ohms. Cotton wick was easy and must have been the key 'cause when I put it on the DNA30 and hit it at 20 watts, there was no turning back.
