I purchased essential Depot vg/pg, Loran green apple and watermelon flavorings and nicotine all from my freedom smokes. Made my first batch at 70/30 vg/pg with 10% green apple @ 6mg. And every vape feels dry! I let it sit for a few days and same results. I used the e juice recipes app to measure by volume to make a 10ml batch. What am I doing wrong? After a few pulls I start to cough. With store bought juices I have no issues. Changed wicks in my aspire mini vivi Nova also. 1.8 ohm at 9 watts, same settings I use for store bought. Thanks in advance!

DIY is about experimenting. Off-hand, I am not sure what flavor/additive would give a "moist" taste. Are you drinking extra water? Vaping dries the mouth out, well, it happens to me and others talk of it.

Good luck!
I drink coconut water all the time lol, the few mixes I made vary in all areas, 70/30, 60/40, 10%,15% all make me cough, store bought I'm fine.

I've only used a couple LA flavors but they turned out fine for me. DIY is a lot of trial and error. You may just have to try and make a few batches at different flavor percentages. I know for me, I like to try and make mine 80/20 VG/PG with 10% flavoring. But some flavors I have need to be dialed down to 5 or 6, some need to be kicked up to 12 or 13. Just gotta keep experimenting until you find your sweet spot.

Also, take notes of each batch. That way you don't forget and make the same one twice, lol.

Try real flavors from the Flavorers apprentice, High Desert Vapes, etc.

I would NOT recommend Loran Oils. Flavors to my worst enemy. Cooking they're fine. For vaping they're terrible

Yes, when I start a recipe, I take a good look at it and think about how each flavor will be in the end. Then I make slight adjustments in bout 3-4 other ways. That is 5 x 5ml bottles. I know my base is the same for all, I just like a certain mix. But as others have said, there is lot of trial and error. All my experiments steep for a good while, so I don't want to make just one try at a time.

Gotta keep searching for the golden eggs.

I'm not sure about the LA green apple but I've tried the LA watermelon as a standalone and at 5% I thought it was nasty strong then turned into syrup, its not a bad taste but its wasn't for me. Loranns flavorings are more for baking and candy than vaping, some are loaded with sweetener and coloring and they were my first try at DIY. I still use the LA Cream du menthe as my mint additive. There's a lot better brands of flavorings out there if your planning to mix. I just added drops to the commercial juices I already had to change their taste then went from there.
The dry part is the sweetness sucking the moisture out of your mouth. its a common side effect of sweet juices, just drink water or learn to mix juices that aren't as sweet or like a lot of us in here just bypass the sweetener altogether.

Welcome and glad you joined. I see nothing that you are doing wrong, equipment wise. Steep is way to short.
I try to make it easy, I stick to a 4 week steeping period on all mixes minimum. Why?:
If good after 4 weeks or more, I've got a good keeper.
If bad after 4 weeks or more, I will likely never improve a bad mix.
If a shake and vape turns bad after 4 weeks, good luck in trying to remember what's a shake&vape. There are way too many mixes out there that don't require special short term considerations for me.
FA Fuji Apple,Oba Oba ,distilled water,FA fresh cream or meringue tend to help moisten a flavor 1-2 drops each.
"EM is also known as Cotton Candy. Often referred to as a sweetener, though it really isn't. At low percentages, around 0.5-1% it adds body, moisture, and reduces sharp notes. It rounds off the flavors, and brings them out a bit. " Re ELR.
Some flavors within a mix will trigger a dry response just because we involuntary react to them in this fashion.
